V2 WWC 2016- 2nd Round Group C

Apologies for the sligt delay, it's now time to begin the 2nd Round of the 2016 V2 WWC with a bumper crop of 3 groups to get us back on schedule

Group C sees a visit to the Land of the Rising Sun as 3 of the 4 acts have wrestled in New Japan this year, along with the 3rd of the Shield trio making his bow in the 2nd Round

Please vote for the wrestler you believe has generated the best work in the past 12 months

Remember from the 2nd round onwards each person is allowed only 1 vote per group!

Please leave a comment as to who you have voted for and why to help facilitate discussion

The group will be closed at 23.00 tonight and no votes will be counted past that point

The first placed wrestler/act will progress to the Quarter Finals

Harsh on Nakamura but I went for Omega. He needs to be in front of American audiences asap.

I went for Dean Ambrose.

I've only seen two of these and whilst I do think Ambrose could be better, especially when it comes to his wrestling style, I'm afraid I just don't understand Nakamura.

I understand that he's got charisma and presence but I am repeatedly confused when I see people talk about him as I just haven't got him in NXT. His matches are very good, but his promos are atrocious. Obviously it's mainly because English is his second language but considering somebody like Cesaro is held back by similar, or you have Rusev who is speaking English as a foreigner, Nakamura is really bad. I definitely don't think he's ready for a main roster main event run where you need to be able to cut a good promo.

I hope he improves because he is so good in the ring that it'd be a shame if he can't make use of that on a bigger stage, but I'm afraid if he doesn't get much much better quickly that he'll struggle to get over with mainstream audiences.

Wasnt Nakamura's english already extremely limited before he joined NXT? Bit unfair to compare him to Cesaro and Rusev who both lived in America for years before signing, Cesaro especially.

I voted for Omega but I think Ambrose has been very good in fits and starts this year, he was the MVP of WWE from about the Rumble to about March, it often feels like Ambrose is at his best when he's just bubbling under the surface , as soon as Vince gets his hands on him and we have to have the fact that he is 'crazy' driven into the ground, he begins to suffer until the creative loses interest and the cycle begins again

I'm still not sold on Nakamura, he's had one tremendous match in NXT so far, but otherwise I've felt the boredom coming off him

Tanahashi is amazing, harsh he's got so little support, the guy had one of the greatest matches EVER this January, but he's definitely on the wind down on his career and when compared to Omega this is definitely his year

I'm not necessarily criticising his English just as an English learner, I'm reviewing it in the context of people wanting him to be a big star. It's going to be a big thing to hold him back, because it's not just slightly broken English, it's really poor. I know Japanese to English is one of the more difficult to master because so many sounds used in English simply don't exist in Japanese. He's on limited time as he's already 36 so he doesn't really have 4-5 years to learn English. I suspect he won't ever be called up, or if he is, it will only be a short run.

I think he has another level of natural charisma that most dont. Combine that with his inring ability and it wouldnt take him long to win over the crowd. I see no reason why he couldnt be a big player for WWE.

AJ Styles proves that you dont need to be a great promo to get over and be a top guy. I think Nakmura has all the tools required tht he could get over that obstacle with relative ease, especially with the hardcore and NXT crowds behind him.

I haven't seen enough of it to make me think he'd get over with mainstream American audiences. AJ Styles isn't a fantastic promo but he's absolutely miles ahead of Nakamura. I'm not sure there's anybody on the main roster comparable to Nakamura in terms of promo ability. Of course that's because he's having to learn English, but we'd be lying to say that it's not going to make a difference to his career.

I think you'd be surprised. Talking only matters so much, and if he fights and acts like he does then he'll be over regardless. If anything, it might be exactly the respite we need from monologues and promos that never end

I'm just not sure, as somebody who only saw snippets of him in Japan, I've been a little underwhelmed. He's very over the top sure, his match with Zayn was great and he's got a really good theme. Other than that I'm not sure what makes him no special and the way he sounds is so silly it really does take me out. His act is very weird, I'm not sure what he's supposed to be or what it's all supposed to mean, it just seems over the top for the sake of it.

I would be very surprised if Nakamura was ever world champ, and I really wouldn't be surprised if he only ever had a short run on the main roster.

Saying that, if you told me a couple of years ago that AJ Styles would be world champion, Shinsuke Nakamura was in the WWE and Goldberg had squashed Lesnar I'd have been very surprised.

I know he's got some Jackson mannerisms, but that isn't really an explanation. I just assume he's supposed to be a weird guy. But that doesn't seem the kind of character that is going to be really over, so assume others must see something different.

To be fair, that actually is more of a character. I don't need a spelled out explanation, but to me Nakamura doesn't make any sense at all. I don't get his character or what kind of wrestler he is. It's a shame as NXT is usually better than the main roster at having properly developed characters.

His character is that he's a hit hitting hitass with eccentric flamboyant hitstar mannerisms, if that doesn't work for you I don't know what to tell you
