Glasgow really missing Dunbar - the backline is really lacking a physical presence

Very important to go in within touching distance - we know Glasgow are one of the fittest teams around so could be an interesting 2nd half!

Well, to me they looked to tire towards the end of the half due to last week's game. Lets see what happen.

Glasgow need to play a bit of territory and need the first score.

Wasn't that a tackle on the 9 without the ball?

I think that would have been harsh - if he hadn't fumbled it it would have been a fair tackle. It's not Finn's fault it was fumbled!

But surely it's his fault for still tackling him without the ball. Plenty of time for him to pull out but he chose not too.

In slow motion replay maybe - not so much when he's running full pelt trying to get to the ball!

Valliant effort from Glasgow, but as expected last weeks game as well as some strange decision (like subbing Price off..) came back to bite him.
They aint getting to the 1/4 this year.

That was a real arm wrestle and chiefs deserved to win - similar to the Sarries game, Glasgow just didn't really turn up to the best of their ability. Especially Russell!
I do think they deserved a LBP though and that was s real sucker punch at the end.

Right result. But the Ref was awful. The Aviva Refs are way ahead of these jokers

Great game to watch if a disappointing result. Penalties cost glasgow too much field position. Some odd decisions from the ref for sure

Completely agree. As someone with split loyalties and no vested interest, I found him MASSIVELY infuriating. No control at all. None. Hadn't a clue at the maul. If a defender did something illegal at the breakdown, he just shouted and shouted until the attacking team could play on, having lost impetus and initiative. Not biased, but a horrible ref.

Exeter will have to tidy themselves up if they want to compete at the serious end of this competition, the chase on their kicks simply isn't good enough, and that number of overthrows and fumbles on prime attacking lineouts is slipshod. The bonus was there for the taking in that match.

Easy tiger. Glasgow are a bloody good side. I do agree that their kick-chase was weirdly non-existent - the Glasgow back three and Russell had hours on the ball returning kicks.

Yes, they are a good side, but the amount of possession and territory Exeter had, and particularly those self-inflicted failed lineout opportunities, they should really have got another try. The top European sides would have.
Not an Exeter supporter by the way.

Re: ERCC Pool 3: Exeter Chiefs v Glasgow Warriors, 14 October
The knock on call in the build up to exeters first try still annoys me. Glasgow were 10 up and should have had the put in at the scrum but the officials got a simple call wrong which gave possession, territory and a score.
Glasgows basic handling was very poor tonight and just has to be better in those conditions

My point is just that if Exeter overthrow like that, the bonus point ain't there for the taking - they need to work on their lineout.
I also think they really, really need to have CONTESTABLE box kicks from the scrumhalf. They were, in the main, significantly too deep and just handed possession back. Until they sort that, there won't be many try bonus points in Europe.

Re: ERCC Pool 3: Exeter Chiefs v Glasgow Warriors, 14 October
Just watched the game back after getting home.
It really was a tough old game and even though you can't begrudge Exeter the win, we were definitely worth a point from it. Niko really should have let that ball go into touch and have trusted our line out, it was pretty good all game after all.
We looked a little sluggish, especially in the first half and you do wonder what the trip down to SA took out of them, even though DR commendably refused to use it as an excuse.
On the positive side, our set plays were much better than we have seen all season and Exeter are very strong in these areas. It probably means that we can compete better in these areas than we though. When we get our injured and new arrivals in the front row back, things will only improve.
For the Finn haters on here, while he did not have his best game, he was far from terrible. Unfortunately, he is now judged solely on his sublime performances and anything sort of that seems to be disparaged. Both our tries came from clever kicks from him and a few of the others that he tried, on another day, might have bounced up and into someone's hand.
The defence from both teams was monstrous and very hard to break down and tactical kicking was always going to be very important. They undoubtedly played that game better than we did and that is probably what won them the game along with their ability to convert the pressure into points.
Exeter are not the English champs for nothing, but we can certainly compete with them and the return up in Scotstoun will be another game.
Whether it is a live game by then depends on next week though and subsequent games. It really is must win against Leinster or we will surely be out.

Disappointing result for Glasgow, Exeter deserved the win though, they were more effective when they had the ball and won the territory battle.
Pack played pretty well but the backs were missing a cutting edge.
Must win next week.

Re: ERCC Pool 3: Exeter Chiefs v Glasgow Warriors, 14 October
So, the Bru and I were in the Wigwam giving each other the Death Ray Stare. (First to blink buys the round) when we were joined by two drunk Glaswegians straight out of Central Casting. (Two Glaswegian males? Yes. One inebriated and affable? Yes. One inebriated and a heartbeat away from lapsing onto a coma? Yes. Both fluent in Kevin Bridges' body language? Yes. Wearing slightly too large and askew kilts? Yes)
Apparently when they arrived at their hotel the receptionist took their details, looked at the kilts and warriors' fleeces and asked,
"Are you with the Glasgow contingent?"
"Of course we are, sweetheart. Why else would be dressed like this?"
" That's right. That what Jamie said. No more. No less"
"I did, straight up I did."
"Well, gentlemen, breakfast is being served just through those double doors. Here are your room keys. Enjoy your stay."
"So we go through these doors... and it's no the dining room. It's a private conference room wi' a buffet laid out, and there's the full Glasgow squad and coaches tucking in."
"Aye, so we gie it 'Hello boys' and they're like, ' Hello there, want some scran?' And we did. We had breakfast wi' them. Magic it was"
Bru was looking at me as if he was unsure about this when one of them said,
"Mind you I had to pull that Gibbins aff the toaster. He couldnae work it and you could see he was getting angry. It was only going to end one way, so I showed how to operate it."
We realised then that it was all true: the Half-Man Half-Mullett looks the sort who goes through a lot of domestic appliances.
At which point Bru blinked and had to go to the bar.
