Both teams will be shorn of their most important players as Glasgow try to avenge their defeat in the ERCC.
Glasgow are undefeated, have 5 bonus points in 7 matches and have conceded the least points in the league.
Leinster are the second most stingy team in the league and have lost only once away to the Cheetahs. They have 3 bonus points from 6 wins.

Not as good as GC, but something to start the discussion. Probably will hinge on players returning from their respective national team set-ups.
Wildly guessing on who will be made available:
Allan, MacArthur, Rae, Cummings, Peterson, Wynne, Gibbins, Fagerson
G Horne, Hastings; Matawalu, Johnson, Grigg, Masaga, Thomson
Malcolm, Grant, Nicol, Harley, Smith then no idea on the backs (McDowell? Yawayawa?)

Comfortable 5 pointer for Glasgow. Leinster overloaded their squad last week against Ulster as it was a conference head2head. We'll be lucky to have 2nds taking the field.

Who gets released will give an indication as to who will make the Irish 23.
I'd say we will see something like:
Dooley
Cronin
Bent
Moloney
Fardy
Jordie Murphy
Deegan
VDFlier (or is he injured)- otherwise possibly one of Leavy/Ruddock- otherwise an academy BR
Park (hopefully McCarthy)
Ross Byrne
Adam Byrne (I think he will be released)/Lamour
Reid
ROL
D Kearney (released as well)/Lamour
James Lowe (he is ready?)/Lamour
Byrne
Byrne
Porter (released)
Kearney
One of the above backrowers
Park or McCarthy
Marsh
Any back 3 player

Might there really be 4 players in a match day 23 called Byrne?the-goon wrote:Who gets released will give an indication as to who will make the Irish 23.

That would be a superb backline to have during an international window.Hazel Sapling wrote:Not as good as GC, but something to start the discussion. Probably will hinge on players returning from their respective national team set-ups.

I presume that 9-15 could also include the Mighty Rhubarb and the Selkirk Pixie.
Do we know if Toonie will release unused players back to their clubs? Be nice to see Rob Harley back too.

Yeah, in a game last year Byrne put in a crossfield kick for Byrne, who offloaded to Byrne to score.

Yes in my new found regality as King Of The Luvvies (thanks Admin Boy) I decree that Dunbar-Johnson will be the centres on Friday.

Not sure I want to see Harley start, but 21st is likely right. Cummings could easily be getting a debut against Samoa so see him at lock. Don't know who is left in that department.
Looks like Glasgow will have the better side going into this with both benches struggling without releases. The last couple of years Glasgow would find a way to lose these. Allan, Rae, and Jonhson should be fired up to show why they deserve a late call-up.

I remember that - the crowd around me had a good giggle at that one.
It’ll be awful confusing if Conor, Jimmy and Tommy O’Brien make their way through the academy to join Sean on the pitch. Just like SOB, Tommy O’Brien knows how to tackle.

Good shout.
I reckon Richardt Strauss might get another run out this week, along with Bryan Byrne and Ed Byrne. Porter needs more game time at TH as opposed to Bent. Ross Molony and Scott Fardy should be a good combo behind them. I agree on Jordi Murphy and Max Deegan in the backrow. Leavy is carrying a knock according to the Monday injury update. Van Der Flier is not in the Ireland squad so he should be packing down at 7.
Gibson Park should start and have Ross Byrne outside him. Rory O’ Loughlin in midfield makes sense, but Reid is on a HIA assessment so could miss out - Tom Daly instead? McFadden had a hamstring issue but if he comes through might be put in centre.
It would be interesting if they put Lowe out so quickly but unlikely. So Daly and Larmour for me.
Full-back? Nacewa out. Rob Kearney and Joey Carbery with Ireland squad. Hmmm.

Teams out:
Glasgow: Bhatti Turner Rae, Cummings Swimson, Harley Gibbins (c) M. Fagerson, G. Horne P. Horne, Johnson Grigg, Matawalu Massaga Jackson. Bench is MacArthur Allan Nicol Wynne Smith Pyrgos Dunbar Sarto.
Leinster: E. Byrne Cronin Bent, Molony M. Kearney, Fardy Murphy Deegan, Gibson-Park R. Byrne, O'Brien O'Loughlin, D. Kearney A. Byrne Larmour. Bench is Strauss Dooley Porter Murphy Leavy McCarthy Marsh Keenan.
Great to see Dunbar back, some of the selections given the Scotland squad are a little surprising. In particular I'm surprised Bhatti is starting, given he's one of only two LHs in the Scotland squad.

Re: Glasgow 2nds vs Leinster 2nds, 19:35 3rd November 2017
Interesting line up for Leinster. Definitely into the thirds in places. Don't know Conor O'Brien at all in the centres. If Larmour keeps the head down and works hard he could make a lot of players uncomfortable about their place in the starting side next season.
Leinster are playing Fardy in the backrow (where he is international Oz class). We've two flankers on the bench, so the view has to be to shift Fardy into the second row if cover is needed. Overall its a big-boy-back-five-in-the-pack.
So that makes me think Leo wants a tight close quarters game. But it's on a perfect surface and Glasgow like to run down the outside channels and offload. I think Leinster have set themselves up for defeat before even stepping onto the field to start the game.

I don’t know about that. Park, Byrne, Kearney, O’Brien, O’Loughlin, Byrne, Larmour. There’s youth but plenty of zip in that backline.
Looking forward to see how Max Deegan goes. Potentially another great prospect who needs game time.

Re: Glasgow 2nds vs Leinster 2nds, 19:35 3rd November 2017
Is Petersen injured? If not, he ought to be frustrated not getting a chance. Annoyed to get Cummings back. Wanted him up against Samoa.
That is a strong front 5 to start with a drop off if Harley goes into the 2nd row. Gibbins as captain sums up Rennie's opinion. Interesting to see how he gets on in that role. Looking forward to seeing how it gets on. Could easily see a Wynne-Smith-Fagerson back row.
The backs are loaded for pace with big boys in Dunbar and Sarto to come on. Horne & Horne half backs will be an interesting dynamic. Hopefully it spurs them on (not in a hero ball way).
This is going to be a fun match.

Hi all first post and nice to join you.
I'm not sure how this will go. Leinster keep it tight and accurate. Glasgow throw it about and if it sticks they can be devastating. I think Leinster's pragmatism will be too much for the flamboyant Warriors, but it will be intriguing and probably a good deal closer than two weeks ago. I see it's sold out and was wondering if any generous Weedgies had any hints for some tickets? I got to the game last week thanks to someone dropping out of a corporate and it was a great experience as a neutral, it's a real shame the team seem to have outgrown their stadium.

Welcome Mr/Ms Fugee.
That's a remarkable good Glasgow side during an international window. It makes my head fall off that our 3 x backline replacements are arguably first choice in their test positions for their national sides.

Pretty poor refereeing decision that led to that yellow and Glasgow's opportunity on Leinster's line. They won the breakdown penalty because the Glasgow 3 took Jordi Murphy off the ball with a no arms tackle.
