I’m hearing that Andy Murray is to terminate his coaching relationship with Ivan Lendl.

No detail as yet on the exact reasons, but apparently a mutual decision.

Bizarrely, some might say, I see this as good news. Probably Andy's decided that he needs to alter his game and needs to do so by himsekf (ie without a super coach) for now

ie If there was a doubt about Andy competing again, no need for this announcement

I am surprised, but then not surprised. I am not sure such changes benefit Murray.

Whatever the reasons behind the decision, whatever the rights or wrongs, the inescapable fact is that the majority of Murray’s finest achievements have come whilst under the guidance of Ivan Lendl.

I maintain, that his last slam trophy had little to do with Lendl and lots to do with his three rivals not been at their best for various reasons

Andy's bright enough to work things out and we need to remember that it was Delgado who seemed to make the difference in Spring 2015

I see it as positive. Like the Top 2 have, Andy will have to change parts of his game to have any chance of winning more slams and that means a different outlook and different / or no head coach

Wonder if he has Magnus Norman's number?

At present I would settle for him being back fit again and competing at the highest level in the sport - regardless of who is his coach.

Andrew Castle, who himself had a hip replacement, sees no significant improvement in Murray's movement and therefore his hip issue, following Murray's exhibition match with Roger Federer.  I also saw that match and also saw Murray still has a hip issue as judged by his awkward lateral movement and changes in direction.  The signs are not good for Andrew Murray.  Andrew Castle suggests that Murray's halcyon days may be over.
