Surrey’s England pair Jason Roy and Tom Curran have both returned to a 15 man squad for Friday night’s Vitality Blast clash with Somerset. Very Happy
There is no place in the squad in the squad for Mark Stoneman or Morne Morkel
Full Squad:
Jade Dernbach
Gareth Batty
Scott Borthwick
Rory Burns
Rikki Clarke
Sam Curran
Tom Curran
Aaron Finch
Ben Foakes
Will Jacks
Nic Maddinson
Mat Pillans
Ollie Pope
Jason Roy
Freddie van den Bergh
Dropping Pillans would be a disgrace so the four for me to miss out would be Borthwick, TC, Jacks and Burger van

TC has to play for me, he's probably our best seamer in white ball cricket. I'd leave out Maddinson along with Jacks, Borthwick and Freddie.

The club would probably get some good press for saying "we have so many good home-grown players that we left out our overseas".

That said you're probably right. As you say, Pillans really doesn't deserve to miss out but I worry that he will.

Hi James - genuinely interesting post and suggestion. That may give us the best eleven players but I'm not sure it gives us the right balance.

I would play Maddinson and leave Tom out / let him rest longer. Not convinced that's right either! Very Happy

In his three comeback games against west indies A and a double header T20 against Glamorgan 2nd XI.
TC has only bowled one over  Erm

If tonight's game gets called off before the team is announced, the selection headache goes away for the time being as Sam should be with the England Test squad for Surrey's next t20 game on Tuesday.

Looks like it's going to be tight.

I reckon a lot might rest on who wins out of Waller and the Surrey hitters ....

Terrible opening over from Jerome Taylor, heavily punished by Roy and Finch putting Surrey in the box seats already. 20/0 off 1.

Roy gone but Surrey on top by a mile and more. 81/1 off 5. Good striking from Finch and Roy but poor bowling from all Somerset bowlers, generally too short and too much leg side.

Absolute carnage! Surrey win by 9 wickets with 3.2 overs to spare - that's a third of their quota not being needed.

I thought being required to make 10 an over might be a challenge but it was never more than a doddle. Somerset needed early wickets but didn't get them and bowled too much dross which we dealt with highly effectively.

We are now looking very strong in this competition.

The trouble with these 10 over matches - it only took one over of Surrey's innings (OK two if you want to be generous) for the match to be almost all over as a contest!
