It’s that time again. When Edinburgh rugby, a tough gnarly rugby team, face off against the hair gel wearing, skin moisturising, sun bed using Glasgow "Warriors".

This annual handing out of league points to Edinburgh is much welcomed as Glasgow, a team who really are living off past glory, look to try and get their hands on some silverware in this day and age.

The history speaks for itself really with the current holders Edinburgh continually handing out a spanking to the team of Avon consumers (if only the fans would follow the lead eh)

Game very much on. Has been all Edinburgh so Glasgow will be pleased they got that try to keep it a one score game.

Edinburgh need to carry on strangling Glasgow and keep the scoreboard ticking over - Glasgow will be able to score from anywhere.

I've got to say the smack talk from the weegies has been particularly enthusiastic this week but once again at Murrayfield the Edinburgh pack dominated, our defence was ferocious and well organised to stop Glasgow's wide play, and once again Glasgow played like headless chickens.

1 win in the last 7 at Murrayfield for Glasgow - why can't you win there?

Considering we've been told how terrible our centres are and how they'd be 92nd choice if they played for Glasgow I thought they played well.

A very good point- both were excellent in defence and Dean made great ground in attack. Glasgow's centres were anonymous.

Toolis and Gilchrist were superb and Watson was his usual combative self with a key turnover. The only thing Gibbins did was get a yellow card.

Pish game to go to for entertainment. One particular passage Edinburgh had 7 or 8 phases for minus 20m. Edinburgh worth the win just. The mighty MFLs version of the van der merwe made it look rather better than it was.

God, I watched that when I got home from work and probably wished I had not bothered.

So well done Edinburgh, no complaints about this result. You played your game plan, we did not.

Hastings will no doubt become a better player for suffering that humiliation, but I wish he had not picked this game to experience that part of his learning curve.

I am expecting a much better performance next week and maybe a kick up the backside will do us a bit of good in the course of the rest of the season. If we did not know it before, we know now that we need to turn up for every single game and a few of our big players did not turn up yesterday.

Expect a few changes and a more resiliant team next saturday.

My observations from the stand.

Edinburghs attack looked toothless especially the forwards but the defence was solid especially out wide. Watson was everywhere. McInally a good game. Dohan looked a threat all game as did Mata but Glasgow handled Mata well. The Scrum stood up well even getting the nudge a few times. Pyrgos box kicking was good but the chase was not.

Glasgow. Wee George was a livewire all game but ended up running sideways too much. Hastings had a mare. The outside backs hardly saw the ball and several times they had worked big overlaps only to see the ball wasted in the centre. Glasgows defence again overall was good but hardly stretched by the predictable nature of the edinburgh attack

The two packs of forwards really cancelled each other out. Neither side able to make much progress or generate quick ball.

9-7 would have been a fair score for the game
