SURREY VS GLOUCESTERSHIRE T20 VITALITY BLAST Empty SURREY VS GLOUCESTERSHIRE T20 VITALITY BLAST

Post by jimbobgooner Thu 15 Jul - 16:28

SURREY HAVE NAMED A SQUAD OF 15 FOR FRIDAY’S MUST-WIN VITALITY BLAST SOUTH GROUP MATCH AGAINST GLOUCESTERSHIRE, STARTING AT 2:30PM IN CHELTENHAM.
Will Jacks returns to the squad for Surrey after being part of the England group for carrying drinks for the recent ODI series with Pakistan. Reece Topley is also in the matchday squad for the first time in this year’s Vitality Blast after recovering from a side strain.
Sam Curran has been rested by the ECB. mad furious steam
Jamie Overton will be out for period of time due to a calf injury sustained during the LV= County Championship fixture with Somerset. Sad Sad Sad
Nico Reifer has been named in a Surrey squad for the first time.
There is no place in the squad for Hashim Amla Headscratch or Matthew Dunn.
FULL SQUAD:
Gareth Batty (c) Rolling Eyes
Gus Atkinson
Rory Burns
Jordan Clark
Rikki Clarke
Tim David
Laurie Evans
Ben Geddes
Will Jacks
Conor McKerr
Daniel Moriarty
Ryan Patel
Nico Reifer
Jamie Smith
Reece Topley
What a joke that Sam cant play in this game after doing nothing for the last two weeks raspberry wish the club could tell the ECB to **** off
Losing Overton is a massive blow in this format, we have to hope the clark/s turn up Fingers Crossed
Right drink duties possibly for Geddes, McKerr, Reifer, and Patel.
Over to you chaps thumbsup

Cheers once more, JimBob.

Totally agree with you about Sam. A bonkers ruling by the ECB. He's young and injury free ... and should be playing!

You're probably right about the four to miss out. Did wonder about Clarke being benched - there's not much too speed with him, Batty and Topley in the field. However, with Overton crocked, Clarke looks very likely to play.

May be pure speculation, but it was suggested that Sam was one of the players to test positive for Covid. Would explain him being left out of the England T20 squad too.

Thanks, JD. If the suggestion is correct, it's disappointing that the ECB and Surrey can't be open and transparent about it.

Cheers jimbob, think I agree with you on the 4 to be left out, need Jacks, Topley, the spinners to perform as we've too many passengers in this team at the moment.
I heard Curran was one of the 3 covid cases, but surely his isolation/quarantine period has elapsed now?!

The usual clowns bowling in the power play, +10 an over every time, already playing catch up...I can see Rory Burns chasing these down

So 9 an over, need Jacks and David to bat long, can't see anyone else keeping to that rate, certainly not Burns and Evans playing forward defensive in the power play

Afternoon JimBob and all - I'm guessing Topley was unfit. That right? Any details? Cheers.

Much of the result probably now resting on whether Jacks stays or goes early ....

Reece Topley felt discomfort in his side during warm ups and so will miss this match via the twitter account.

Comfortable in the end, thanks largely to 50s from Evans and Smith. About time from Evans whilst Smith is looking a good batsman in all formats - kept it ticking along sensibly today whilst he calmly played out time for the draw in the Championship against Somerset on Wednesday.

I think it'll also help if Glamorgan beat Somerset tonight.
