Kaufman is comfortably my favourite comedian of all time -- even if he hated being called one.

Kevin Bridges for me, the man is an absolute genius.
As for Frankie Boyle, I used to love his work but I feel these days he just goes out on stage to offend.

Re: favourite comedians now and ever ?
some great choices on there.
The marx bros films are sublime and stand up to modern day viewing - true greats.
Not heard of the ritz bros or george varlin (although I suspect I have seen george).
A few I disagree with - robin williams I just dont like. His drug fuelled 70s stuff is horrible in my opinion. Kudos on putting Bill Cosby on there though.
Love bud & Lou too - excellent choices although not standups as I think the thread was designed for.
Never seen any Paul Reiser stand up - only really know him from films and Mad about You!

Steve Martin (ditto Steve)
Jack Benny
Burns & Allen
Carl Reiner
Lenny Bruce
Dennis Leary
Marty Feldman
Madeleine Kahn
Andrea Martin
Catherine O'Hara
Martin Short
Billy Crystal
Sorry to say I was never really into Bill Hicks but I liked his skewering of the patriotic bull**** of Gulf War I; it was sorely missed during the sequel.
A&C were a stand-up team on radio, which led to their break into movies.

Re: favourite comedians now and ever ?
I saw Jerry Seinfeld live at a comedy club back in August '90. There were a few other stand-up comedians who were hilarious too. Lots of jokes/impersonations of their parents living on Long Island v life in the city.
I ordered the worst pizza ever - something wrong with the taste of it and this got noticed by the performers because I was sitting near the stage. They would ask: "Anybody here from outta town?" Eventually, I admitted I was - and I was the butt of several jokes about 'kangaroo pizzas', etc. They never let it go... There would be a punchline followed by... "except for our Aussie friend here....of course" Nowhere to hide!
It was an entertaining night to say the least - not to mention extremely embarrassing at times. I learned the value of the unsuspecting audience member in providing endless cannon fodder for these slick quick-witted comedians.

I saw Bob Hope in '77. Pretty much his standard schtick from his whole career but he was on top of his game.

I've seen Mickey Flanagan live - he was superb.
I don't watch panel shows on account of them being rubbish, so I'm not judging based on them
