George Groves
The lad has really grown on me in the last few months. Thought he boxed brilliantly against DeGale and showed a different side to his game. Not sure if he his top, top draw but I like the way he goes about his business.
I follow him on Twitter and he said there was some ‘big news coming soon’
Just wondering what people think his next move will be and how far do you think he can go?
Cheers

Na, I've no idea. But there aren't many who would be big news, but that they would accept the risk.
In all probability, it wont be big news.

Re: George Groves
Have to say I really liked Groves attitude in the build up to the DeGale fight, but was dissapointed to see him get Involved in the Haye circus, sticking the camera in Wlads face taking pics at the press conference.
Know he was probably just following orders, but lost respect in my eyes!

Re: George Groves
i dont think groves is ready for world level just yet, he had a good win over degale, but degale didn't come to fight like arthur, lacy or bute will. maybe a step to far to soon, although now degale has gone the euro belt route maybe he doesnt wanna fo that direct just yet

Re: George Groves
Abraham would be a crazy risk, I see groves in with a decent euro level opponent next, maybe magee but even that would be a tough ask at this stage. Really like George tho, good lad and i follow his skype too. He is still so young so lots to learn and lets hope he can go on to replace Froch when the time comes and Froch retires as a geat SM for Britain

Re: George Groves
If he is lined up tp face one of the three, Lacy is the only one he could beat IMO, still, he needs one of those names to top Degale's recent annoncement.

Re: George Groves
If it were Lacy that'll be a good move at this early stage in his career. Lacy is a spent force but has a name over here to sell (well maybe!).
I can't see Groves making the very top, but i'd like to be proved wrong.

Re: George Groves
Is Lacy still active? He was beaten by a journeyman in his last fight so I'd imagine Groves should have more than enough to beat him. Wouldnt be a bad fight as Lacy is still fairly well known and is experienced at world level (also experienced at getting beaten up).
Abraham is terribly limited and I think Groves could out-box him. However, it would still be too high risk as Abraham's power can compensate for his lack of ability.
No chance of Groves facing Bute. He would have no chance of beating him either.

Re: George Groves
Think someone like Lacy would be ideal at this stage of Groves's career. Really should be beating him, but may be enough of a test to help iron out the flaws that one would expect of a relative novice, British and Commonwealth champion or not. I happen to think that DeGale could also do with this type of fight, continually stepped up in difficulty, rather than taking short cuts.
Both still have the occasional amateurish habit, and time is not so short that either needs to be rushed to a rematch or a "world title" fight. The necessary preparation to produce two well-rounded masters of their craft over the next two years should be the aim, not some hype-laden journey to early oblivion. I'd pay plenty to see Groves-Degale II in a couple of years, or a bona fide title fight involving either at that stage. I am less interested in watching two fighters, as yet short of their full potential, showing us their limitations again before they have been straightened out.
