Does Sharma look to farm the strike now?
Haha.
These last two tests have been brilliant advertisements for Test cricket

I'd like Sreesanth to get off the mark, just so the top order look even more rubbish.
Dhoni in particular...

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Really? He certainly likes to play his shots, a test best of 25 at a run-a-ball. Still, it could have been higher if he'd taken the runs that were available to him.

Odd to think we'd have lost without Broad

Fitting that Broad wrapped this one up. Shame Swanny couldn't take a wicket, but happy that Bres got 5-for. Happy that we won by 319 runs as well! Good test match for England, win the next one and we're guaranteed World Number 1!
Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
319 run win. DOMINATION!
2 tests up. We are number 1 surely....
Broad MOTM, bresnan a very close second.

Excellent win there, one of our best in last few years.
Credit to the bowlers for an amazing spell this afternoon.
2 - 0 after 2 played has matched my hopes and with Birmingham next to come , England fans will be really looking forward to it.

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Obviously I want a crushing 4-0 win and to stomp India into the dirt....
But it would really set this series up if India win the next one. 2-1, 1 to play. India trying to save the series (and put the first two matches and the injuries into context) and England looking to win to get the two clear wins and go to number 1.
But as I say, crush them!

8 wickets and 108 runs really should see Broad get it. Importand wickets and runs in the 1st innings got England out of a deep whol and into a respectable position.

or bresnan, 5 for and a 90, or dravid 100, but will most likely be broad

Broads runs and wickets in the first innings were big moments in the match so i would say he should get it.

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Things need to be taken into to context, India are missing the premier opening combo in Sehwag and Gambhir. They are missing Zaheer, who's only behind Steyn in terms of natural talent.
Yes, England have played well, to their max potential if truth be told, but India have been no way near their best.

Thats a bit too easy Longhop. England have simply been better than India. They took the Indians confidence away through great play.
Yes India missed some big players but thats not the sole reason they are 2-0 down.
England have been building towards these performance for some time.

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Sorry but you saw with my side Australia, when key players retired, that we struggled. Sehwag is certainly the most destructive player around and India have missed him. Mukund seems out of his depth, a tad like my hero Phillip Hughes (sad smiley)eirebilly wrote:Thats a bit too easy Longhop. England have simply been better than India. Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
im sorry longhop but i disagree....
india have been poor with the bat and in the field, and england have been superb, its no fluke these performances, they have been building for a long time now, and finally starting to pull off performances that are worthy of being a no1 side...

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
The players you mentioned may have added a bit more but not enough to influence this result i feel. They could also have got out for ducks or been carted all over the field as well..
England simply played much better cricket and are deservebly 2-0 up

If Khan is fit, i would swap him for Bhaji, India dont really need a secong spinning option with Yuraj there.

Well played and Well deserved win England...
India should be ashamed....the margin of defeat..319 runs..
Can understand the weak Indian bowling attack...But can't understand, with respected batting line up...collapsing like a pack of cards...
Back to the drawing board for India...

Dhoni should step down as captain if you ask me.
He can't bat, can't catch and his love of Harbhajan Singh has ruined the Indian side.

I sometimes get tempted to think that way, but my mind says no, he is not over rated, he has done hsi best, to manage with the lacking fire power, anyway that should not take any credits away from England team that claimed a superb victory, 2-0 up well done, now the reaminig games will be equally exciting, to see what India do to square the series.

A great win for England and I reckon it will be a 4-0 series win. The big question now is where does Tremelett come in, if at all?

Hes better than Raina and no worse than Harbajan has been. If its not a spinning wicket and you dont have a speacialist spinner worth aplace why not pick 4 seamers and get the best of them. England did well in the 2nd innings because the seam attack was broken and tired. With 4 seamers that wont be the case.
England could find themselevs in a similar position if swanns hand is still dodgy. We dont really have a reserve spinner at the minute beyond Patel whos a batsman who bowls a bit, but that woudl allow England to play Bresnan and Tremlett. That way we can just keep rotating those 4.
Its not ideal to go without an attacking spinner but harbajan isnt one anyway. Even swann has failed to look a threat so far.
His fighting innings yesterday my just be the balls India are looking for to justify keeping him in though. At least he stood up and took the fight back to England even after the game was lost and he was semi fit, Fletcher will like that a lot.

No I think he's in a trough of form and like some of his team he's struggling with conditions and an opposition playing good occasionally brilliant cricket.
If he genuinely made that call at teatime to recall Bell then he's got my admiration.
Enough of the serious stuff does Dhoni have his answerphone with this tune on it ?

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
dhoni has some real issues..
firsttly his form with the bat and gloves is awful, maybe he should play as a bowler :p
his batting line up are yet to score over 300...
harbajhan is useless at the moment, and they all rely on zaheer!!!!!!
which means great news for england

although we will find out how effective the spinners are in the final 2 tests, edgbaston does spin, and the oval on some occasions has been a dust bowl
