Great run by Roddick to get to the quarters after all the injuries he's had over the last year.

Although Ferrer didn't seem as fit as usual, Arod played a decent match here.

Isner is a better opponent for Andy imo than Simon. Simon would've have ensured long, brutal rallies. With Isner, theyll be short so he can save some energy for Rafa.

A very well done to ARod, great come back indeed!
Happy that Nadal will not play his trusty PA in the quarters

Re: USO day 11 08/09
Is anyone watching Tsip v Djoko? It's amazing, long and gruelling rallied but you know Djoko could finish the rally earlier but doesn;t want to. He wants the rally to continue as an investment for the rest of the match. Like almost all his and Nadal's match, tight first set....and then a race to the finishing line.
And some still don't believe it's all about lungs.

I am watching Tipsy and Djokovic.
I think it is called UE's more than lungs. I mean if Tipsy can only play great tennis for 2 games doesn't speak volumes.

UEs????? Just run as much and as fast and as they do...and let's see whether you can keep you shots tidy within the courts!

This isn't a test of lungs. The courts are so slow that it's like playing volleyball with a beach ball!!!!
This is a test of timing because each groundstroke is being met with the 'oh crap the ball has come back this far' looks on their faces.

Think it is midnight JK, though the forecast is rain. I have me fingers crossed that the rain will sod off once and for all.

I am puzzled though. If they know rain is coming then surely it would make much more sense to just get the Federer/Tsonga match on as soon as Djokovic/Tipsarevic has finished.

It's because the courts are slow that it's a lung contest! If they were as fast as 90s wimby, points would be shorter!

I have to say that the courts have buggered this tournament sideways. All of the players today seem to have looked very uncomfortable out there, almost like the surface is foreign to them.
Newly laid courts, exposed to the rotten weather. Bad luck or bad planning?

Considering they are not having to scamper means it is they are not hitting winners on the move or even off a vertical stance. Hence it isn't a lung buster!
The best example was the Murray match and look at the UE's Young racked up.

An epic first set going on between Djokovic and Tipsarevic. Janko playing some great stuff to stay with and now edge ahead of his countryman.

As I said it's long rallies with Djoko getting breathless again (when was the last time we saw him gasping for air)...but he always find a way to retrieve one more last ball and Tsip's nerves are getting the better of him. Tsip served for the set...but
TB...

What today has shown thus far is how far apart the top 4 are from the rest. Even when the 3 of the 4 who are playing have put in toilet displays, their opponents have put in even worse. Just shocking to imagine how poor it has been.

Oh what a chance for Tipsy! Some bizarre shot selection in that last game.
Now he's a break behind in the TB already. He deserves this set does Tipsy, but blew his chance.

Now Djokovic has wrapped that first set up, would you not agree that the set was won by the player who didn't throw in some bizarre shots like Tipsy did towards the end of that set?
He made all the right moves in game he broke.
Then he decides to go all Dolgopolov and try and mix it up and handed it back and collapsed in the TB

Doesn;t he remind you someone else? He is just extremely solid when it matters and typical of the risk taker being under more pressure when they have the opportunity to cross the line (or a set here).
We see that so many times against Nadal and Djoko.

Golden my arse!!
When you look at the tennis Federer played against Monaco, it would be a crime that if he continued that against Tsonga and didn't win the tournament would further shatter my belief in the sport.
If crap play like this wins the Slam I would be disappointed.

Those bizarre shots come cause Tsip feels the urgent need to shorten the points. This is also what Dolgo says in his post match interview.

Which alludes to my point that this slam has become more about timing of the shots. Young in the first 3 games against Murray hit some gems. Then que 2 days of rain which further slowed the courts down and his timing was dire. Which is a shame. Murray went out there and with hardly any sterling shots was able to wrap up the match in 3 sets. Was sad to see a match won like that.

NOOOO! Woz serves for the match but guess what, of course she double faults and the match goes on. Pure torture folks!
Might as well stretch this post because i can't watch any longer to that stupid woz-pet match. For anyone who's not watching Djoko-Tipsy and as bored as i am: today we had an earthquake in the Netherlands, yes, in the Netherlands. 4.5 magnitude, not bad eh?
Didn't notice it, because it was close to Germany
