ATP World Tour Finals 2011, London Calling

First topic message reminder :

Here we go again!

Final tournament for the best 8 of 2011: Djokovic, Nadal, Murray, Federer, Ferrer, Berdych, Tsonga, Fish.


Some call it the 5th slam, some see it as an exhibiton, as for me, it presents as a super opportunity to expereience some more tennis thrill before the Christmas off-season, to see, hopefully some good matches and the legends of the game, LIVE!!!!

This time last year, the weather was awful, tube drivers were striking, 606v2 didn't exist, I had a near-death experience, and Nole managed to put TWO lenses in one eye and was considered by most to be a one slam wonder....


Haven't things changed in the meantime ?

So, I'm taking this last opportunity of 2011 to:

1) watch tennis in GMT time-zone and not have to wear massive bags under my eyes every morning
2) see a civilized scenario of 2 matches a day (must say a perfect portion!)
3) enjoy seeing those matches in the packed O2 arena every day for every match


And because one never knows what another day may bring, who may or may not be in London this time next year, because above all we all love tennis, let's enjoy the last stop of this 2011 quirky, cosy tennis ride, let the WTF commence

That was the idea. I'm so glad I didn't go as it would've been too much to go to two consecutive evening matches and endure traveling with the guaranteed weirdo or two on the late train...

Just saw Mark Rosset in Sky advert for Fedal match talking, man he looks like a 60y old roadside caffee cook. I remember he used to serve massive aces in his time.

Have to agree with last night observers, skirts on girls are shamefully short.

Nadal's game is shameless. He sends those pluto balls on the return but feels gutted they go out.

Fed's FH firing nicely. Both strong so far.

Fed playing great at the moment; Nadal looking as ineffective as always on an indoor court. I swear his game has actually got worse over the last few years...

Nadal is playing 5 times better than v Fish.

No UE's just not as good as he can be, but Fed is being supreme, last years final all over again. He seems tired got to say.

I am sure you recognise that when he is on song...he is still producing the best tennis ever.

How I wish he does that next year at RG. Vs Nadal in final I mean.

Federer has truly entered God mode at the moment! I can't help but wonder if Nadal's play is one of the main causes though; the Spaniard has offered absolutely nothing in this match. No pace in his serves (115mph seems to be his max), no speed to his groundshots, and his fabled speed around the court seems to have deserted him. He looks distinctly average right now, and Federer is destroying him.

I often wonder what must go through their minds at that level.
