Who wins and how?
Re: Ward v Froch prediction poll
First topic message reminder :
Ward by wide points margin in a very good fight. He simply edges most of the round.

Ward should win it on the basis he has not lost in the tournament

Re: Ward v Froch prediction poll
The head says that Ward is quick enough to pick off Froch with fast shots and take a UD by at least 3 or 4 rounds.
However, needless to say I will be cheering on The Cobra to the full.
Would be a great achievement to win this and bring his legacy right up to contention with Calzaghe.

Just watched the weigh in on Sky. Ward bang on 168, Froch 167.5. Both look in great shape, both talking a good fight. Excitement through the roof now, cannot wait.
Re: Ward v Froch prediction poll
Same - not a fan of froch but he usually gives value for money. Hope he puts in a blinder and give us something to cheer on.
Re: Ward v Froch prediction poll
Yeah, defining fight you have to think. Go on Carl, for Queen and Country!
Re: Ward v Froch prediction poll
Am a Derby lad but love Carl as I see him representing the East Midlands not Nottingham.
I think Adam Booth's thoughts on the fight are spot on. If Carl doesn't let Ward get in a rhythm and keeps him on the end of his jab, he has more than a chance!

Yes, he has to set the pace and make Ward uncomfortable.
Make him feel some heavy punches and get him thinking about every move!

I cant wait for this fight. Hopefully Ward is gonna come out guns blazing. If he is under pressure I hope he puts on some slick defense. Its gonna be a tough fight though. Go on Ward

So you want Froch to win too? If ward comes out all guns blazing he will get seven shades of **** beat out of him. He is the superior boxer and should make his positioning count,

No because Ward will pick up early rounds the ease off a bit hopefully before a big finish

Re: Ward v Froch prediction poll
Is Froch's confidence about not getting knocked out going to bite him on the arse? He has taken a lot of punishment over the years, and isn't too concerned with taking one to throw one. I know he is a hard man and amazing chin but has it taken so much it may start cracking?

Re: Ward v Froch prediction poll
Have to go for a Ward Ud, but will cheering on Carl every step of the way!!
Froch has a chance, Ward isn't what the press and media are hyping him to be he isn't Mayweather.
A lot is played on Ward comfortably beating Kessler, while Froch lost to him and struggled against slick speedster Dirrell
But a few things that give me hope is Froch is far more unpredictable than Kessler, has beaten and dealt with quick fighters in Pascal,Taylor,Dirrell in tough fights but has prevailed. I also think his fight with Johnson was great preparation for Ward, especially if tries inside fighting. Its not Froch's favourite area but his countering combo's and movement to not be pinned in was very good.
I also think Ward can be wild and be open to counters, Kessler had opportunity but never capitalised, doesn't have the same power as Johnson who stopped Green in 8 rounds, wheras Ward couldn't get him out of there. I thought the Bika fight was much closer than the scored suggested, but it did prove Ward can fight and has a lot of heart but again the heads came into play a lot!!
And in the Abraham fight I think if Abraham had better stamina and could fight longer than 30 seconds a round he could have given more problems!!
Have to go with Ward though, but come on the cobra!!!!

Is anyone else as excited about this now?
I cannot wait for this fight now, I think we're going to be in for a treat and hopefully a shock.

Re: Ward v Froch prediction poll
I can't wait!
I think it will be close-ish but Ward getting the best of most rounds.
But i still don't rate Ward's chin, have not heard much about it in build up but could play a factor.
I do feel Froch may have him in trouble but Ward is good at surviving an onslaught and like with Taylor in 12th round when he was gone Froch got raged and struggled to find the shot to put him away.
Just can't wait for the fight as the amount of build up is getting ridiculous!

Re: Ward v Froch prediction poll
Think Ward will win the early battle, but the brave Englishman will not buckle. Eventually, Ward will be tiring and, in a dramatic 11th round, Froch will floor the American and KO him. GO ON COBRA!

Re: Ward v Froch prediction poll
I dont think I've seen Froch in a boring fight.
But Ward will be too skilled for him. I hope we have a ref who keeps an eye on Ward's use of his head.

Re: Ward v Froch prediction poll
I think Ward will be too strong.
I predict a real tear-up, Ward the more dominant, possibly even resulting in Froch being stopped for the first time in the latter rounds.
Hope i'm wrong.

Re: Ward v Froch prediction poll
You know, it wouldn't surprise me if Froch got DQd. I think he's in for a long, frustrating night in there and this, combined with his seeming eagerness to respond in kind to any perceived Ward ‘tactics’, could see him, with the help of some unsympathetic refereeing, DQd or at least docked a point or two.
In terms of a straight-up prediction I’ve gone for a Ward decision. Possibly somewhere in the 118-110 region. On the scorecards at least, even if it’s closer on neutral inspection.

Cheers azania. Was an old 606er about two or so years back. Used to post quite regularly but the board became something of a joke truth be told. Too many wums etc. Have seen a few names I recognise already (Truss, Dave, Scott, Rowley, Steff, Shah, FOF etc).

Excited now, not long to go. I hope froch wins tonight heart says ge will do it by close decision. But heads telling me ward will have to much craftsmanship for him plus I do find although froch is a pressure fighter, during rounds he can go missing which may play into wards hands but I hope I'm wrong.

Everything points to a Ward points victory, but i just have a feeling that we will see the performance of Froch's life and i think he could stop or KO Ward somewhere around the 6th.

Well i was right a close points ud for ward, although cant see how the judges gave it that close. Ward by far the deserving winner in the super six
