Goal Kickers anf the scrum cap?

Why do some, not all Goal Kickers remove their scrum caps when taking penaltie kicks, or conversions.

Matter of concentration and 'black dot' techniques?

As a lock I always removed mine when kicking at goal, but normally due to the heat build up, it was a nice way to cool down a bit.

I read somewhere that when Danny Cipriani started wearing one, the removal of it was part of his kicking routine.

I suppose he'd spent many years kicking without one, that he preferred to take it off at first..... Then it all became part of the routine, along with everything else that kickers do every time.

I think the pertinent question is why do backs wear them in the first place?

because their mammies won't let them play otherwise.

Personally it makes them a target.... whenever I saw a guy outside of the pack wearing a scrumcap I always went out to hit him as hard as possible in the tackle.. big jessies the lot of them.

The same reason they taking out the mouth guard.

Many practiced their kicking without one for many years. Then later suffered a head injury that made them start wearing a scrum cap. If they take it off it's to make the situation as close to their practice routine as possible. Some don't seem as concerned about this.

They can take off the scrum cap when they make the kick at goal because is the one time they are not scary if Sam Warburton will tip tackle them.
