Welcome to the 4th Addition of the OMPL.

After a long break I now bring you the latest and greatest prediction game in the history of 606v2! With a number of people either not commiting last year or choosing to miss putting predictions down for every week I have decided to come back with avengence.

As with every great game changes must be made in order to keep it relevant, fresh and keep its players coming back....so with that being said I have made some minor adjustments to the scoring rules so please read them & ensure you understand.

Scoring

• Predict the winner - 1 point
• Predict the method (KO*/Pts) - 1 point
• Predict Early / Late (for KO) or Unanimous / Split / Majority (for Pts) - 1 point
• Get all three above correct - 3 bonus points
• 10 points will be awarded for correctly predicting a draw.
• Wild Card – Each week you are to select two fights as your WILDCARDS (put a W next to your picks). This fight will score double for you.
• Upset of the Week – Each week I will decide an ‘Upset’ Fighter…If this fighter is picked by anyone and they win then there score for that fight will double.

Rules

• *TKO, DQ, TD or Retirement all count as KO
• I will list fights 1 - 10, this list will be definitive, when predicting please list fights in the same order.
• Any entries that are subsequently amended will be void.
• If a fight is cancelled, or if a fighter drops out and is replaced, that fight is then void.

Congratulations are in order for another new title winner of the OMPL. Trenchtownbaboon shall forever have his name written in the history books as he claims the title in Season 4. In what was the most nail biting conclusion in the history of the OMPL there were plenty of people in with a shout of winning heading into the final week. A mere 8 points separated the Top 4 in the end. Last years champion Tomfinneywalksonwater will struggle to hand over the title to the new king of the prediction league having ran him so close all season. With both finishing on 183 points it ended up going to the dreaded count back and with Trenchtownbaboon securing a score of 51 way back in Week 2 he takes the title due to having the highest weekly score. Well done to the following people bhb001, WHU_Champo_League, Boxxthis & Manos De Piedra who rounded out the top 6 this season. It is a cruel way to end the season but it is what makes the OMPL so exciting.

Compelling - Ah trusty boxrec for the fighters we don't know about. Agreed another good week for boxing and to be honest it just keeps coming over the next few weeks.

I actually don't know whether to do the traditional 4 week season or whether to go right the way through to end of July with this season!!!

Any opinions please let me know!

Depends on the scheduled rounds for the contest Az...

6 round would be 3rd...
8 round would be 4th...
10 round would be 5th etc.

Ozzy, I wouldn't take it through to July straight through. I would take it to the end of May and then look to start another one after that if there was still interest.

enjoy the prediction league and the longer the better for me, you just have to find the balance between a long enough league so you get a worthy winner and when people might start losing interest due to under performing and give up. splitting it up a bit gives people a second chance of glory

Week 2 Results and Updated Table now up!

Well done to Trenchtownbaboon, who annoyingly pipped me to the Predictor of the Week award this weekend. A healthy lead at the top and two good weeks so far stands him in good stead coming up to the half way point of the season.

After a bumper weekend of boxing, we have something of a quiet week this time round, though with the return of Mayweather and the highly rated Mares Week 3 isn't short of quality.

As always prediction deadline is Saturday Night at 18.00.

Since Paperbag revoked SHEEP I feel this is the only breathing space we get away from the daily grind of arguments and WUM's who fill the board! Bit of fun and as many have said good way to get to know some otherwise unknown boxing quantities...

Now back to ensuring I research this weeks fighters records properly so I can win this damn league and go onto greatness!
