Cornwall beach

Hi guys me and 3 friends were planning on going on short trip to Cornwall end of august and would like a reccomendation of where to go? We are planning on camping.
I've looked online but there seems to be so many different places I'm a bit lost.
Ideally what is wanted is sandy beach calmish water, none of us surfs.
Personally I'd like somewhere with a bit of life, I.e at least a good pub as I think the beach is the most overated thing in the world:)
Any help on general area or specific campsite would be much appreciated.

Personally id suggest Ayr holiday park in St Ives   It's a nice place down there.

Mullion is a wonderful place, and has a campsite or two, I believe.

It is a bit on the quiet side, though.

Just come back from Cornwall with the kids, didn't get to visit the beaches sadly as they constantly wanted to go on days out, and it was easier to keep them entertained so we had the evenings to ourselves. I would suggest going to the Cornish Cyder Farm if you enjoy cider though. They do free tastings and you can spend a fortune plus it's all made on site and not available in most parts of the UK unless ordered from them.
