First topic message reminder :

A thread to provide commentary on matches at tournaments which don't have their own threads (as I'm watching Ferrer v Murray).

WTF final ?
I was lucky enough to watch that live, stunning match; Federer actually outplayed Djokovic for most periods- and I was supporting Federer too.

I did not see that one.  It was played on Monday (some UK holiday?) and I was at work here in the US.  Does anyone know if this year's WTF final is played on Monday again?

Federer beating the poor lad up like a dog.

Still, he has stood on court with the GOAT playing well. Something to treasure.

Didn't Goffin say he used to have Roger's posters on his walls?  Maybe he should have brought one of those with him today and asked Roger for an autograph.

Well, good fun for Fed, I"m sure Goff enjoyed himself there, sure must of told himself its all lost here, so all good, and moved 6 places to 22 now.

Good run, for both.

You feel that Andy needs to get this done in straight sets. Surely his energy levels must be very low. Murray leads 3-2 on serve.

Robredo finding great depth on his shots, digging deep and survives two break points to hold serve at 3-3.

Robredo deserved that. If you're going to paint the lines 6 times and have a dead net cord to boot then you've got to break.

I do not really mind Robredo's game. It is not super exciting and reminds me even a bit of Ferrer but that SHBH makes it more watchable for me.

Three big games in a row, three games won by Robredo. I think Murray's dead on his feet but he only has himself to blame. There's absolutely no need whatsoever to be playing 3 hours against Kevin Anderson.

And Robredo takes the first set 6-3 and I'd say no way back for Murray. So if that is the case what is required of Andy at Paris to ensure a place at the WTF?

What does he do now? Tank it and do his best to get past Dimitrov in Paris? I don't think Robredo can be this aggressive for another set but Murray's being too passive to change it up.

I can't see he has the energy levels left. He must fore shorten every rally - be much much more aggressive.

Speaking of Roger, in this situation (feeling tired but with an early break) he'd serve this out and really not bother about the other return games. Murray can't do that.

From nowhere a break for Murray. Now he must get that first serve firing. I still think it is a lost cause mind. If this does go to three they will be scraping these players off the court.

I wonder, IF he were to win here, he'd withdraw from Paris. He'd be up to 5th with a win. Are 4 players going to overtake him between now and then? Hardly.

A very valid point. However, like I said earlier I know he is very keen to improve his ranking and so to do that missing Paris is not really an option. I suppose if he feels terrible enough he may give it a miss.
