Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
Worth a mention is Cesc Fabregas joining Monaco. Been a fantastic servant to Arsenal & Chelsea, and a credit to the English game. Departs, while currently sitting second in all-time assists in the PL.
Tottenham accept £11m offer from Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan for midfielder Mousa Dembele.
Bayern Munich have announced the signing of right back Benjamin Pavard

They may have bought him as a centre back. He plays there regularly for Stuttgart and given the form of Hummels and Boateng it wouldn't be a surprise for Bayern to have identified Pavard as a replacement. Bayern are actively trying to reduce the age of their team.

Don't really think Arsenal will miss him all the same. Never quite turned the corner to become a really good player.

You know it's a slow deadline day when the main story is about Crouchy returning to the Premier League with Burnley, probably as a bench option.

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
Andre Herrera confirms that he is leaving United on a free transfer, presumably to PSG. Shame that United won't get anything for him too.
I will be sorry to see him go as I thought he was one of the few players that seemed to put in a decent shift at United. At the same time, United are right in not allowing themselves to be held to ransom. I'm sure Herrera would have stayed at United if they had offered him a fortune, but they didn't, and now he's off.

Weirdly, he’s the only one of theirs I’d have kept.
Think he’s underrated as an actual footballer because Jose made him do lots of the dirty work and niggly stuff.

Antonio Valencia is leaving United too. I have no idea where he's going but he says that he still going to play. So that's two United players on their way.

Dybala heading to Atlético to replace him?
Not actually sure that progresses Barca. You don’t win CL’s by ignoring that defence, and just praying that front three bails you out. Seems to be their policy, and it hasn’t worked since 14/15 season.

They're not gonna rebuild the squad until Messi retires.
Squad still needs work but at least it gives them an option at the top end of the pitch that isnt Messi

They’re going De Ligt, De Jong and Grizzle.
They do need to add something up top, the current three aren’t good enough. Suarez is defying many predictions that he was losing it, but it’s a fight, Dembele and Coutinho don’t appear to have worked. That Messi lad is reet good though.

Can’t blame him leaving the mess of United, to earn £300k a week at PSG.

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
Inter and June both interested in Sanchez, providing he either lowers his wage demands or United subsidise. Apparently talks have been productive, I’d imagine he can find it again in Italy.
Inter remain interested in Lukaku and I hope to God it involves an Icardi switch. Imagine the English media dealing with a footballer whose agent is his wife

Eriksen is essentially a poor mans Frenkie de Jong. Both came through the Ajax system. One joins Barcelona aged 22 whilst the other is still at spurs aged 28.

Fee agreed for Hazard. £88m with the potential to get to £130m, so will probably end up somewhere in the middle.
Was always inevitable really, but I did hope that Madrid’s head might be turned by a Mbappe, Neymar or even Pogba type and he would remain. Still, he’s been an incredible player for Chelsea and at least CHO is going to sign a new deal so they won’t both leave this summer.

Tbf, Solskjær has 8 years of managerial mediocrity. At least we don’t know Lampard will be bad yet, even though he probably will be. If he can show some youth team players are good enough for first team football, then it might be worth it.

Lampard did show some promise as a rookie manager for sure, also some worrying things - you know like finishing with a point less, less goals scored and more goals conceded than Gary Rowett did with Derby - and Lampard had a much better squad due to the loanees he was able to attract...

I can't profess to have watched a huge amount (any) of Derby bar the Leeds second leg, but I did see that he lowered the age of the squad considerably and lost their top scorer in Vydra whilst maintaining the same level - they were 9th or 10th favourites before the season in the betting. But that's just me being glass half full. And they massively over-performed their underlying numbers, which generally means a regression to the mean is coming. Worrying, but like I say, if him and Jody come in and give some of the younger players a chance at least it won't be totally pointless.

Derby tried to play but were a bit fragile for the Championship. I suspect he'll have more margin for error at Chelsea tbh, certainly in the short term where the ban and his status give him more leverage than most managers there.
