Just John wrote:Olly, I see United now focusing on Max Aarons for £25m, instead of Wan-Bissaka at over £60m.
Yeah that's a non starter - seems to me to be Utd trying to get Wan-Bissaka to kick up a fuss at Palace, by leaking their in for a few other RBs - also apparently in for Hysaj at Napoli too.
Even if they are in, Aarons is under contract for another 4 years and we have absolutely no reason or desire to sell. So we'd be similarly tough to negotiate with as Palace are being! (would probably need more than £25m for us to sell)
Feels to me like Utd, after Ole having spent a lot of time saying they'll get business done early, are now panicking.

Utd are run by a moron, that's half the problem
Aarons would probably be great, but he's not ready to boot Young out of the side straight away, and that's the most pressing transfer needed for them

Man Utd have reached an agreement with Crystal Palace to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a deal worth £45m + £5m add ons. £90k a week wages
Chelsea making the Mateo Kovačić loan deal permanent for £45m.
Tottenham signing Jack Clarke from Leeds for initial £8.5m
Edin Dzeko heading to Inter Milan for €10 million + a player

Kovacic all but confirmed for £40m + add ons. On one hand, i’m not over the moon about signing another midfielder who doesn’t score or assist when half our goals/assists just walked out the door - but on the other hand it would be funny to end up spending more than Arsenal despite having a transfer ban.

not really the signing you need, plenty of cover in midfield with jorginho, barkley, kante and rlc (who may well be given more chances under lamps) even forgotten men like drinkwater and bakayoko who can cover in case of a injury crisis.
panic signing simply because you could sign him

Rlcs out for a while isnt he.
Imagine Drinkwater and Bakayoko are probably gone, and money isnt really an object when you sell Hazard and are banned from signing new players

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
Yeah, RLC is out till Oct/Nov and I hope he isn’t rushed back as he is injury prone as it is. Drinkwater is gone if they can find someone to take him off their hands, Bakayoko by all accounts is going to get a pre season to prove himself after a decent second half of the season in Italy. I don’t see how Jorginho and Kovacic can play in the same team, so I do wonder if Jorginho is angling to head back to Italy.
And we have Mason Mount coming back too, who was a key player at Derby under Frank - so he will be competing for minutes too. It is a bit of an odd one unless we have serious outgoings due.

£70mil bid for maguire by united
id certainly take him over jones and smalling. think its a fair offer in today's market. perhaps slightly too much. certainly wouldn't want to be paying much more.
nice change from previous windows, where we are signing positions we actually need and trying to get them done early.

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
Might not be a popular opinion, but I think his standing in the game was massively elevated, thanks to that WC, and how inferior the opposition were, in our draw. He’s been exposed recently for England, thinking he’s some kind of baller, when in reality, he’s just a big unit, who is effective at set-pieces. £70m is ridiculous. It’s not even like he was a part of the Leicester title winning defence, to warrant such a fee.
£300k for Rashford, stinks like United haven’t learnt much either

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
transfer market being ridiculously overflated is nothing new, arsenal spent over 35 million on mustafi. he's cleary better than that and proven in the division. he's strong and decent in the air something we haven't had since vidic, feel like he would partner lindleof well. he's a improvement on what we currently have and theres not many decent centre halfs out there.
the hope is he would also improve, playing in a "better" (just ) side. the figure is massive but no english clubs need to sell with the tv money. add to that when united get involved in any transfer you nearly double the fee. 70 mil i can handle. certainly a safer gamble than a lot of foreign players who havent played in the division. we paid 60mil for martial and hes been useless since his first season
i winced at the rashford deal, but then realised theres a lot of performance related bonuses to make it up to that sum. poor boy will be on universal credit if hes not careful

I can see why he would be attractive to a top side, and ultimately no PL side has any financial urgency to sell.

Heard reports we’d sell for £25m. Labelled the next ‘Michael Carrick’. He’s decent, and a good passer of the ball, but hardly seen enough of him, due to injury. Doubt he ends up at OT, but Ashley seems keen on destroying our club, and OGS wants British players, so who knows.

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
Not really fussed about Perez going, he's never really done it...so for £30m thats a very good bit of business to be honest.
However my concerns are who else is Ashley going to get rid of (id be VERY annoyed to see Longstaff being cashed in on)...and how much is going to be put back in.
Asset stripping before a buyout?

Perez should be a good fit at Leicester. Price is inflated but again, that's the market when every PL side has money.

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
It’s a release clause. £30m is great business, seeing as we signed him for £1.7m. He’s always been marmite at NUFC. Lightweight, inconsistent, and ultimately infuriating to watch. Barely a 10 goal a season man. Rondon will be the big miss, out of last season’s partnership. Not overly sure what Rodgers sees in this signing, but I’m not complaining.

The surprising thing to me about this off season is that so far, I've not heard the name Alexis Sanchez mentioned with regards to a transfer out of United. Something tells me that he'll still be a United player next season.

With all the sides that need midfielders and all the talk of some rather average names, Tielemans at 40m is a steal.
I am also mildly delighted to see Leicester having to spend £40m just to keep a player they had, thus theoretically not improving. I do think they're the most likely to break the top 6 this year, but I have to look at them as rivals.

No surprise to see him leave for China. Strange personality, and always had his motivations, and professionalism questioned. Heading for a pay day in the Far East, as no top European club wishes to secure his services. £22m is cheap, but squad and dressing room unity, are worth much more.

Christ, we’re really going for it this window. Needed to strengthen, didn’t think we would sign this many players this quick.
Still need a keeper and another striker.
Hopefully this will be money well spent.

yeah very cheap for trippier. not sure what's going on at spurs, selling tripper, rose up for sale and alderweireld available for 25 mil. they wont have a defence for the new season.
not sure why we (united) aren't in for alderweireld at that price. 1/3 of the price of maguire and still has at least 3 seasons in him. at first I thought it was because other big sides would be after him and we wouldn't be that attractive. but the only club linked to him so far is roma, while were not quite as big a draw as we used to be were still a bigger one than roma!

problem for United is neither are close to the class of Van Dijk. They are paying £130m to make sure they stay at a level where Liverpool are better, but aren’t miles ahead.
