The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Hello new pub,
If any of our tennis following regs are about and have ESPN Classic they're showing highlights of Agassi v Ivanisevic from Wimbledon, 1992. A cracker!
Laters!...
Forgot! Highlights! It's just highlights not the whole match. On till 6.00pm.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Urghhh. Speaking of DIY, just finished sweeping the chimney - the down side of having a nice couthy open fire! But, when lumps of soot start falling down the flue when there is no breath of wind - the bullet has to be bitten. Still, all done for another 6 months or so. Now to put my sitting room back in order, eat early dinner and get down to The Inn for the marshalls' muster - Ben Sheann Hill RAce on tonight. Must dig out my anti-midgie net. The most vital bit of kit!!

are the midgies that bad up there Puma? I've heard that it can be but never really believed it!
And well done on the chimney sweeping! I know my dad never likes doing that job.

Believe it, Dreamer! I went out one year without the net (goes over the head and shoulders, bit like a bee-keeper but much finer) - never again! Almost as bad as the year that there was horizontal sleet (in June!!) and I had not taken adequate clothing. Brrrr.

Midgies are a plague of Scotland. Sometimes if you go walking up in rural Scotland in Summer, it's like being eaten alive.

Hi all. I've a nervy wait now for my "informal German" interview. I was told to expect a call "after 6pm". Its quarter to 7 now wish they'd just ring as I can do nothing until they do

Interview with Ruan Pienaar, and he says;
I think he's got the wrong idea, the 'Staan Op Vir Die Ulstermanne' banner was devised by some of the URSC/2BC types as a parody of those who think we're all going South African. Same with the flags. I quite like that the URSC bumper stickers are in Afrikaans. My mum has one on her car. But I haven't seen many actual South Africans at Ravenhill- off the pitch of course.
But man, Saffer journos are patronising about NH rugby!

‘There are a couple of South African flags and Afrikaans banners floating around the stadium virtually every time we play so it’s good to see South Africans supporting and getting behind the team'

Stag - hope it all goes okay for you (that is if they haven't called you already!)
I've just been speed cleaning the flat, the stupid agency are finally getting their act together and coming to do the inspection in my lunch break tomorrow.

Congrats Stag. Go hand in your notice, it's illegal to give a bad reference, so you're in the clear. And the majority of interviews I've been involved in we never bothered with the reference, we knew from the interview if we wanted the slave or not.
Slave? I meant applicant.

Its cost me at least £250 for these two interviews - I had better get it. I know of at least one other person at this stage. I really want this job.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Well if you do as well in the interview as you do running this place you'll be fine Hobo.

I live in Glasgow and the interviews are in London - no travelling expenses. So its cost me £250+ to get to the interviews.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Stag,
Congratulations.
Well it's a bit of a shame that the Amlin draw has worked out like that for me. I can only hope that we get Exeter away in game one or two. Perpignan hone would be great too, but I fancied a trip before Afghanistan.
Passed another exam today. Did it blazing drunk though because it was a mock and yesterday was drinking weather. Proper one tomorrow though, so I'll be having an early night.
I was hoping you would post the State of Origin score Hughie. I assume Queensland won.
Congratulations.

Hi Rev, good luck on the exam tomorrow!
I can let you know who won in the State of Origin if you like, can't remember the score off the top of my head though.

Well done Stag - and good luck Hobo!
My brothers-in-law and I stayed in a caravan near Fort William when we went to Scotland to climb Ben Nevis. We went down to the loch (Puma will know which loch it is!) in the evening and noticed a few little flies around - but didn't think much of it. Within the hour we had to stay in the caravan and speed-smoke with jackets over our heads when we went outside.

Hobo I seriously hope you get it. Seriously hope it. I mean at least I had work and it was my first interview. I can only imagine the efforts you have gone to and I hope they are rewarded tomorrow.

Does anybody else have a problem with the preview option now and again ? What I get sometimes when I preview what I have written two words will join together as in jointogether or the end of a word will be changed for example because will become becausese.

Oh well, since it's news time on the box, all the blydi civil servants are at it now! Exertion dodging malingerers!
Cymro, no. But are you on a computer or phone, because the predictive thing on my phone does funny things sometimes.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Any technical bods out there that can help? My partner (business, right) has an iphone4 but can't get on here with it. He's tried to click on the classic icon on the mobile version but still can't get on. Any hints or suggestions?
Prop, you'll have a whale of a time. Lucky b'stard. I go to the Llanwrtyd beer festival in November which is a right laugh. It's the smallest town in the uk and they have carved a niche for wacky events - they have the bog snorkelling world championships (cancelled last year because it was too dry!) the man v horse race, the hill walker's beer festival etc. Mad little place.
