He was born Vladimir but changed it to Wladimir once he'd settled in Germany as that is the German spelling of his name. If he wanted to be spelled with a 'V' it would be, such as on the promotional posters etc. It's a 'W' son.

Most acknowledge this as Wlad's (and it's Wlad, not Vlad - Ask him how he spells his name.) biggest challenge for a number of years.

There hasn't been a heavyweight fight where he's started anywhere near EVS for a number, number of years. The odds in itself suggest that this isn't a "nothing to gain fight".

Haye is the only contender in recent memory that could in theory stylistically trouble Wlad apart from his brother.

You got further than me then Truss. After spending two weeks in Ukraine and Russia, all I learnt how to say was 'hello' and 'thank you'. I did learn how to read and write the alphabet though, mainly during the following six weeks in Mongolia.

By the way, there is no real equivalent to W in Cyrillic so they of course use their version of V.

It's all about translations really but, more importantly, is pretty bloody trivial in the grand scheme of things.

I dont agree... While he is recognised as a great boxer he is often rated among a bunch of boxers that are simply not that great.
Haye is a very good boxer and is seen as the best person to take a K down... So if he beats Haye then he will be able to look back and say he fought the best available to him and beat them... that there really was no one around to better him...

Vitali, and that will probably always be the problem which each of them has when being assessed in years to come. Not suggesting that brothers should fight, but that doesn't alter the fact that each will have failed to have met his most significant rival.

Its the same problem Lewis had not fighting Bowe, Tyson or Holyfield in the mid 90's, not necessarily his fault nor is it really Wlads fault that he wont fight his brother but he can never claim to be the premier heavyweight.
