kimbo slice wins in 17 seconds

kimbo slice faced a novice fighter in his first professional boxing bout, scoring a KO with a right uppercut just 17 seconds into the first round. didnt see the fight, but apparently his opponent was down for quite a while. aged 38 kimbo needs to get a move on if he has even modest ambitions in the sweet science, but a performance like that shows he definetly has the power, and is a good stepping stone to better things. alot of people expecting him to lose, and probably a lot of people not to happy a mma fighter trying his luck in boxing (after several failed attempts by other fighter). personally in a weak HW division he may have a shot at success- and ill be watching- more out of curiosty than anything

As soon as he comes up against a decent technician I think he may be horribly embarrassed - either way it'll be interesting though!

The guy is an animal but as Fist said a decent technician will teach this thug a lesson. No doubt all the MMA fanboys will be saying "We told you an MMA fighter would beat up all boxers in either sport bla bla"

He seems more of a circus act in the butterbean mould than a legit contender to me. Never had the skills for mma and I don't think he will have it in boxing now, not at his age already!

Any self respecting MMA fan would not hold up Kimbo Slice as a good MMA fighter. He is a tough SOB but not a rounded MMA guy. It will be interesting to see him go up against a good/ respected boxer next.

Kimbos strengths are his fists, he was never going to cut it in MMA, unfortunately he's getting too old to compete in either now.

kimbo isnt even a mma fighter, he's a street fighter who tried his hand at mma failed dramtically and now trying boxing so people cant kick him in the legs or take him down

What money he goes up against Butterbean next? (is that his name?)

Soon as he meets anyone with a half decent defence who has a good chin he'll look ridiculously flawed.

He has no boxing or MMA backround, he's nearly 40, i think he has good hands and just got taken to the floor in MMA, when he was knocked out it was very similair to Benn/Watson. He's going nowhere but he could have done not bad at both had he started earlier. If he hadn't gassed in a few of his MMA fights he could have kept his hands going and finished a few fights, he's not going to be able to lie on his back in the boxing ring so stamina will be his downfall before anything i think.

Who exactly did he beat in 17 seconds though? A nobody; that's who. When we look at the facts of Mr Slice on paper there's not much to be excited about. He's old and he's incredibly limited skills-wise. As has already been said; any half decent technician who can negate any early rush from Kimbo should be able to frustrate him and make him look silly. All Slice has that's impressive is his beard, making him look like the 'roid-raging lovechild of Mr T and Brian Blessed.

haha well said BALTIMORA. I am not convinced with Kimbo either. He will need to fight everyhmonth to get the experience hell need to take on actual boxers in the division,this guy at the weekend was clearly a can. Hell have a punchers chance aginst a top guy IMO,nothing more

The guy he beat (James Wade) has a record of 0-1 and his previous fight was at CW.

They'll probably continue to match Kimbo up against complete bums and he'll pad up a record of 15-0 (15 first round KO's).

At that point, he'll either retire "undefeated" or make a step up in opposition and fight a semi-decent journeyman.....at which point his flaws will be exposed in embarrassing fashion.

he obviously has power, he KO'd the guy good and proper with a single punch.
as soon as someone slips his punches and gives it back, it's good night.

he looks solid though, like he can take a punch, but without a technique he can only go so far.

He has tremendous punching power but art his age Stamina and fitness will come into it. Can't see him getting to far in the Heavyweight Division.

Definitely not convinced by Kimbo, but anything really to liven up a moribund division at the moment; with a strangle hold at the top by K2 and everyone else seemingly a light year away in terms of ability.

He won't do a thing in the division, surprised it's got so much attention.

i am not surprised he is getting so much attention really. The division is very poor and he is pretty well known, hell i know him and i dont follow MMA or those street fights he did.

Audley should destroy kimbo skills wise but kimbo would probably get to him in the build up and weigh in and he'll probably freeze..

Audley wouldnt throw the jab for the first eight rounds at which point Kimbo's confidence would sky rocket to dangerous levels. If an olympic champ lost to a glorified street fighter i would be physically sick on my own shoes, then i would lick my own shoes clean and vomit on them again.

In short. I would be displeased

Got to give him a little respect for having a go at both MMA and boxing, could of made things much easier for himself by continuing to fight local crack heads.
Dont think he'll have a chance against a genuine top 10 heavy though.

That made me laugh but you got to hand it to Slice haven't you, beating up crack heads on youtube got him into the UFC & now pro boxing to say nothing that he's being talked about on here. At one point he was the biggest name connected to MMA on the internet before he'd even had a legit fight! Quite a smart guy. As you say he knows his limits & is just looking to make some cash, I certainly dont begrudge him he's always come across as a nice guy & said he wants to donate some of his fight purse to the Oaklahoma disaster. Good luck to the guy.

i'd love to see the first round of kimbo vs wlad, not that i expect him to win or anything, but think it would amusing to see wlad reaction.

the heavyweight division is so bad that if kimbo wins against ten bums and drops one contender, you will prob get your wish.
