Celtic Transfer Rumours

Not sure how many Celtic fans there are on the board but I've just been reading rumours on Twitter than I HAVE to comment on.

Apparently Samaras is off to Sunderland for circa £3mill! Add to that Maloney is rumoured to be joining Wigan for circa £2mill subject to medical (He'll fail. Probably pull his hamstring stepping out of the taxi!)

Coming in are Mohamed Bangura and Baba Diawara; 2 much needed strikers.. Combined fee rumoured to be £4-6 million.

If this set of moves come off, I'll be absolutely delighted.

Not forgetting the £2m for Maloney.

The agents involved in those proposed moves control some form of dark magic!!

I can't believe we'd get 3m quid for that dud Sammy, think it'd be nearer half of that to be honest, if we could get 3.5m for both I'd be delighted

I would take £2.5m for the pair. Sammy has been a waste of a jersey for most of his Celtic career. Lighting up the occasional match does not warrant the drain on resources that he is.

Maloney just keeps the physios company.

yeah £2.5m is a far more realistic figure, plus both are on about £45,000 a week between them, I like Maloney but he just can't be trusted to last a season

Sunderland have bid £10m for Crouch so it looks like the Samaras deal is a non starter, Wigan and Celtic are officially on talks with a view to doing a deal on Maloney

I would imagine he is. With Spurs having signed Adebayor he will be dropping down the pecking order.

Yeah I'm seeing the Samaras rumours have died down already. Pity. Apparently he turned down a move to St Ettienne.

I have always rated Maloney when he's fit. The problem is that he never is.

The good news is that Bangura has definitely signed. He comes highly rated from Larsson who knows him from his time in Swedish football. Here's hoping he lives up to the potential.

I remember Larsson saying a year or two ago he'd find it hard to recommend a player to Celtic for fear that he wouldn't make it, so for Larsson to have recommeded him you have to believe he's got the potential to be a good player

Yeah I heard that Samaras knocked back the move to France, gutted, he needs a move big time, he's not wanted hear and he needs a move as much for himself, the change would do him good

I've also read today that Celtic knocked back a £4m and an £8m bid for Ki Sung Yeung from Blackburn as Rubin Kazan respectfully, £8m like the Jelavic bid is huge, to be fair Celtic haven't made that information official, think it came from Ki's camp, if true though it sets down a marker for future bids

I think Ki has massive potential and is showing signs of being top class. He's not the finished article though.

I've seen on some sites people jumping on the fact that "Lennon said he's a £10m player".

Not in the quotes I saw. The quotes I saw had Lennon saying he had potential to be a £10m player.

It's good that the Old Firm aren't rolling over and taking the first bids accepted; but at the end of the day they have to be realistic. Those bids are huge for players in the SPL.

Oh and I have to agree - Samaras needs a move. When he first signed for us he was much better. The new challenge could easily spark a new run of form.

He's away golfing for 4 days with Commons...he's not moving to Wolves.

So Sammy is doing a Balde? Except I think Balde still could have been useful when he was frozen out. Sammy is just terrible.

I hope Maloney can stay fit and have a right go at it, he's a very good footballer but at £25,000 per week he's just not worth another risk

Badr El Kaddouri from Dynamo Kiev, 40 caps for Marocco, he's 30

Jos Hooiveld signs on loan for Southampton, this is a good move, he's not really been given a proper chance at Celtic and this will give him a chance to really get to grips with British football at a decent level

I actually do think he's a good player. He needs a run of games to prove it. It will always be difficult for any player stuck besides Loovens.

I think Loovens might be the central defender who'll play along side Wilson when he's fit, he did look hopeless but he had ghe likes of Caldwell, McManus and Majstorovic as team-mates he was never going to have protection, he's far from pefect but he can run and jump, something Mistakavicat the age of 34 hasn't mastered

I personally think Mulgrew should get a run of games alongside Wilson at centre back. He played really well there last year when called upon. I say give him a try and see what he can do.

I thought Mulgrew was outstanding considering, the only thing is I think him and Wilson might be to similar, I'm still holding out hope for Rogne though

I don't think he will get played and I think that is a pity.

He is the target man we've been screaming out for. As you say, he is completely different to what we have. Instead Lennon sticks with Sammy when he needs a "big target man".

I don't know what happened, but he's never getting back in to Lennon's plans.

Oh and I agree about Rogne. The kid looks like he has all the potential he needs to be a class defender. He just needs a solid defender beside him to help him settle.

I heard Rasmussen was fond of the Columbian marching powder, not sure how true that was, it would explain why we shipped him out though, he also no-showed court and got a warrant out for him

for a guy with a decent goal scoring record he has been little short of awful when I have seen him.

He lacks fitness and pace, although he can be worse than samaras who has all the heart of the tin man!

very true but what can you do, in 2002 we had the sixth highest playing wage bill in Britain and it showed, we'd have fancied ourselves to beat anyone, now we've probably got to think our wage bill would just about make the top 25

Absolutely no chance of McGeady coming back, the latest on him is that Zenit. Juventus, Paris St German and Malaga are all weighing up £25m plus bids for him, he's long gone

No chance of McGeady coming back my little brother is pals with him and he is enjoying himself in Russia more than he did in Glasgow. He would consider a move to Spain or England but doesn't fancy Italy. He doesn't think the league would suit him.

It would cost any team somewhere betwenn £20-£25m to get him along with wages of about £80k a week maybe more to come to Britain because of our high tax rates.

I love to see him go to Spain, its a far more attack minded league than England, he'd do well there
