Wigan to sign Gareth Thomas

Is he good enough for the Wigan team?

Strange one for me, Thomas has done quite well in league but i dont see were he fits into the Wigan side ?

I think if Thomas had come to Rugby League about 10 years he really would have made a huge impact, but that never was going to happen.

Yeh i agree if he was 10 years younger then it would be a good move , the synic in me wonders why Wigan are signing him ? could it have anything to do with a movie being made about his life and the publicity that will generate .

You could well be right about the movie and the publicity it will attract and the reason why Wigan might sign him.

Is RL not incredibly popular in Wigan anyway. I always presumed it was when you look at the sh!te crowds their soccer team get!

Rugby League is incredibly popular in Wigan, but perhaps they want to raise their profile outside of Wigan.

I think it's all about the marketing opportunities. Bring in some interest from Wales and while that movie is being made, he'll be doing his interviews from Wigan.

Thomas has signed a 1 year contract with Wigan for next season

Marketing + valuable experience of BIG matches and media pressure, those are the only reasons why Wigan have signed him that I can think of, he'll obviously add depth to the squad, but he doesn't really improve it.

Maguire is denying all knowledge of Thomas signing ?
