play has started, Federer serving and holds to love. Djokovic looks a wee bit slow out there so far...

Djokovic's turn to hold to love as Federer makes a couple of errors. Brutal exchange of forehands in that game too, which Djokovic takes with a short cross court one

Federer's backhand solid, Djokovic a bit wild at times, but serving well. 6-5 on serve in the first, this set so important you feel...

close match, like we knew it would. But not as spectacular as the RG semi, not yet anyway

I think it's pretty fast actually. Not the court, the shots!

But yes, Fed's returns are not that impressive.

The key is how Fed plays the big points today. Nole is slowly getting better and fed does need to improve those returns. Too close to call at the moment.

Tactical challenge from Federer there, he knew that was long but wanted that extra bit of time to compose himself, and comes out with the big serve next point...

Well not the best of sets but after 5 set points Federer finalllys drags himself over the line 7-6. Now i need an entertaining match fast

Same here. Roger is going to test my nerves today.

His returning is quite ordinary. His serve is the main reason he won the first set.

Come on SA. Could it be not due to the quality of the opponent.?

In my opinion Fed is a tiny bit better, but Djoko can go on like this for 4 more hours. Fed another 2 at most.
I think Fed needs the second set too to win this

Well maybe . It has been a dull match so far with Djokovic making Federer run alot but not playing any better himself.

That was a very cautious first set by both players and Federer managed to step up to the plate in the tiebreaker. Djokovic really playing defensive which is bizarre.

First set to Federer in 55 minutes. I am sure Djokovic will try to extend this match and attempt to wear down Federer. Still in the balance this one. So far though looking good for Roger Federer.

I think some of Federer's forehands have passed through the sound barrier.

Fed playing great, Novak also playing well, these guys bring out the best in each other. I disagree SA, it was a great first set. Both guys serving lights out till the tiebreak. Roger is playing beautifully. lets hope Novak gets his return going.

Well i need to remove the cover on my screen to see what it is you are watching. Maybe because i don't enjoy serve only tennis which this has been so far.

Nole is trying to move Fed around more now to tire him but its a risky strategy as Fed is very good hitting angled FHs on the run. Fed looks rested and fit today too...Nole slightly anxious...I think Fed may actually have more in the tank that Nole, and I dont think Nole is good with humidity. He was looking tired against Tipsy the other night before Tipsy "lost" one of his legs. I dont think Fed needs the 2nd to win but I think he's going to win anyway....wow what a BH for 15-40.

Come on novak save those breakers.

Djokovic looks really tired out there and struggling physically.

Djokkovic just starting to engage in longer rallies but on that occasion (40/0) paid the price.

Best I have seen roger well since he beat Novak at Rg

Novak needs to get into fed's service games, still hasn't seen a break point

Yeh, sure SA, or more like he's being out classed by one of the best ever.

Maybe socal, but when Fed is on this form he's a handful for anyone...he takes the ball so early as to take time away from the opponent. He's taking his BH particularly early - it seems to be firing on all cylinders today - but then he's been the form-horse of the event so far in my book.

Roger channeling pete sampras on the serve, just too much quality on the serve right now he isn't missing

lol Tenez, I do have impartial views on tennis you know... ;-)
But the point is that I dont think it will work because Fed isnt going to tire...its Nole who looks more tired, and some of that may be due to anxiety at being behind (anxiety burns calories). Be interesting to see how Nole responds to this...
