Rafateers Ahoy!!!
First topic message reminder :
Miami Sound Machine ...
After a run to the final of Indian Wells, where Rafa mysteriously left his form in the toilet, we now move on to one of his favourite locations, full of latino flava and great Rafa support ... Miami.
For the man who holds the record of winning the most Masters Serious titles, this is one of few that eludes him. He's been to the final only once before, and last year saw one of the saddest sights I can ever recall of Rafa ... that of him cursing and beating his leg above the knee as it seemed that his knees where once again failing him.
The doubles are dropped for this tournament, and Uncle Toni is back in town. Rafa dropped out of playing in the charity football match for Japan stating that with this tournament and for what is to come, he's entering the most important phase of the season for him, and he has to be careful.
He faces one of his more difficult draws for a while, and with Novak rising to Number 2, this is the first tournament where we have Rafa and Feds drawn to meet in the semi-final. Can Rafa steer his way through an un-chartered draw? Will he meet Novak once again in the final and is he the man to end his fantastic winning streak? Can he finally get a title that eludes him in the so-called "5th Slam" and will he celebrate by swimming with the dolphins or will Dorky go and re-acquaint himself with his old mate Goofy in Disneyland?
C'mon Rafa ... you can DO it!!!
=================================================================================
Welcome to the Rafael Nadal chat thread. This is a place to celebrate, be positive and to have fun whilst discussing Rafa, the Armada and tennis in general. So whether you are a long-time poster, a newbie, or maybe a nervous lurker, if you can meet Rafa's triumphs and disasters and treat those two imposters just the same, then this is the place for you. All are welcome, so please feel free to join in with the fun ...

Rafa would not do flings, Womble. And engaging in a fling with Rafa is not the kind of behaviour that any self-respecting Rafateer would contemplate.
We would leave that sort of thing for ... FeliFer

I would avoid Reeshar......just not for me
Rafa.....do you know, I'm not sure if I'd marry him......I'd have one hell of an affair with him.....snog his face off and all the other benefits that would come with it....but marry.....??????
He is totally adorable and fabulous....handsome and sweet and cute, I love his eyes, his skin, his body and as for that mouth He is very nearly as perfect a specimen as I could want, but I'm not sure I'd ever want to get married again

Evening Rafateers
Just noticed you have hit 18 pages on this article.
Just to let you know that the maximum is 20 pages and then the article is automatically locked and you need to make a new one. (not done on purpose, its just the capacity, similar to 606 with 2,000 comments etc)
But fear not, the article will still be in your section, but with 3 pages left, you need to get thinking on a new name for the new thread

YI Man ... thanks the tip.
I was wondering how far we could go on this fred.
I think I'll call the next one the very original "Rafachat" and then just add something topical as we go.
That OK lovely Rafateers??

Re: Rafateers Ahoy!!!
Good morning Rafateers
As I missed the main event on snog marry avoid – I will MARRY No 1, and renew our vows every year
As well as being loveliness personified, you'd get a lot of time for girlie stuff with your friends – because he'd be off playing golf, computer games, jet-skiing etc. And then he'd be happy to share Haagen Daaz and cookies in bed
Though…I don't think much of his taste in musicals :run2:
that Rafa's going to Monte Carlo AND Muzza too. As for my <newsqueeze> Berdy – I've gone off him since I saw him at the O2 and he didn't do autographs. And he was wearing a Man Utd beanie :run2:

Good afternoon all lovely Rafateers!!
<sighs> We're in one of those phases where there is no Rafanews.
As we know from Denz, he is now home and resting but I suspect he'll be back on the clay tomorrow for practise. Some of us now only have 3 more get-ups till our little adventure on the Cote d'Azur next week ... But as you'll find as the week progresses ... we won't ever, evah mention it. <cough>

Re: Rafateers Ahoy!!!
In the absence of 'owt to talk about Rafawise, I've been thinking of a game we can all play.
Born out of Rafan's insult of Rafa's excellent taste in musicals and the mention of Rolf coming to MC, I thought we could play "Name a character in a musical for the players to play" ... but then I couldn't even come up with a suggestion myself.
So I'm going to <feef> a game from elsewhere.
Rafalimericks ...
This is Jubbahey's game (so he may remove our posts for plagiarism ) but what you do is someone starts with a line of a limerick, then the next person <cuts and pastes> that and adds a second line, then the next person copies that and adds a third line ... until we have a completed limerick at 5 lines long. Lets have the theme of Rafa/the Armada/tennis players ...
Geddit??
I know Cats will struggle to understand the rules , but lets have a go!!

Re: Rafateers Ahoy!!!
By the way - I can't BELIEVE that Rafa wore Gooner shorts - do you think it was:
(a) because he's anti-Spurs due to tonight's Real Madrid game
(b) supporting Nike by wearing a kit made by them (tho they do Man Utd too don't they) or
(c) I can't think of another reason.
For me it is unacceptable behaviour!

There once was a Gooner called Cesc
Who thought he would do something in jest
Which was to offer his shorts
To a pal, of sorts
In exchange for one of his old sleeveless vests
This Gooner was canny and wise
Cos he knew Rafa was way far too kind
To say "noh" to his offer
But then he'd be in all sorts of bother
For using them to cover his behind
But the last laugh will be on said Gooner
As he will have a miserable summer
Cos although he fooled Rafa
His team will win nada
And 606 closes to WUMmers (like him)

Re: Rafateers Ahoy!!!
There was a young Spaniard called Cesc
He loved Rafa as much as the rest
He saw FeliFer
Who weren't so demure
So a letter he wrote from his desk
Dear Rafa the letter began
A favour I ask, if I can
To show my support
For you, in your sport
My shorts I donate as a fan
And wear them while playing you must
As a token of affection, not lust
I won't take offence
If you sit on the fence
You can use them for training – not fussed
And so to Miami and sun
The Spanish respect, "all for one"
Rafa took out the shorts
And wore them on court
Another bromance had begun

Evening all lovely Rafateers!!
I am trying to channel Rafa by watching Real Madrid. Except I keep getting distracted by Manchester United's future manager, Jose.
Corrr
Lovely Rafa looks tanned and relaxed as he returned to Mallorca at Palma airport for some R&R before starting practice again.
And whilst I am channelling Rafa, it seems Feli has been chanelling Rafan.

Its a real problem sorting out the trunks and the hat boxes and the accessories to go with them. There's nothing for it ... you have to be brutal!
<pssst> Rumour has it that the Tesco's bag that Rafan is sleeping in for Wimbers is also doubling up as her case for the Cote d'Azur!!

Re: Rafateers Ahoy!!!
Solerina ... we should know better, and he would die. Such a <hoot> though.
So I've gone through my back catalogue, and this is a couple of offerings from last Christmas ...
Made me to read them again ... and I haven't even gone to find the limericks!!
A boy from Spain, are you listening,
On the court, muscles glistening
A beautiful sight,
We're happy tonight.
Walking in a Rafa wonderland.
Gone away is the Swiss GOAT,
Here to stay is a new GOAT,
He sings a love song,
As we go along,
Walking in a Rafa wonderland.
On the court he let him win the O2
To pretend that he has got a chance,
He’ll say: I am Rafa!
We’ll say: Vamos!!
And you can do the job
In Melbourne town …
Later on, we'll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
The matches he will play,
Walking in a Rafa wonderland.
Walkinggg in a Rafaaaaaa Wonderrrrrlannnnnnnnnnnd !!
===========================
Away in Mallorca
A baby was born
A little son, Rafa
A new era had dawned
The stars in the bright sky
Looked down where he lay
The little boy Rafa
The new king of clay
The Swiss cows are lowing
And Roger awakes
But Rafa still beats him
And crying He makes
We love you, sweet Rafa
Our golden slam champ
And come back to see us
At Wimbers we'll camp
Be near us, dear Rafa,
We ask you to stay
In Europe forever
On occasion, USA
So have a good Christmas
From your Rafateers
And take us to heaven
For many more years

Lovely Cats Well ... I'm glad you need reminding of our itinerary, because it just shows that we have hardly EVAH mentioned our up-coming trip ...
We fly at stupid-o'clock on Sunday morning (7.30 am) ... which means I will be bog-eyed getting up as I have the hair and make up to do before we travel. We will spend a leisurely day in Nice until we can take the keys to our apartment and then the party starts!!
This time next week Rafateers ... we will be at the club and will be watching Rafa and the Armada ... Sooooooo exciting!!
And speaking of make-up. Rose retrieved a used tube of foundation from my bin this morning which became her new treasure and she wouldn't leave it. But by chewing it ... she's got foundation all over her face. She looks as tango'ed as Denz and Rafan will be. And she rummaged in the neat piles of pants I had lined up for packing this morning too. Its been a long time since my pants got dragged anywhere around my bedroom ... :run2:

Can just picture Rose. Aw Wooffs getting your pants dragged round the bedroom is over-rated in my opinion
I can't wait to read all your reports from MC. It's okay that I'm a teensie bit jealous isn't it?

Cats. It would be very rude of you NOT to be a teensy bit jealous, plus, we would not be doing our job properly too, if you weren't.
Speaking of which ... this time next week, we will have spent the morning at the Monte Carlo club watching Rafa and the Armada (hopefully) practice and will be enjoying an afternoon's tennis in the sunshine of the Mediterranean.
I want to ask about this WiFi business though. We're all technophobes, but our apartment has WiFi, and as I'm taking my laptop, we hope to be able to keep in touch here and of course send in reports. But ... how does WiFi work? Do I just switch on my laptop and magically I can connect to the internet? Do I have to pay for it?
Come on <those who are watching quietly> ... someone must know. Come out and tell us ... you'll be reading the reports, won't you.

(handup) I know this one Miss!
If there is WiFi then yes, you switch on your laptop and you will connect. I very much doubt you will have to pay for it as the fact that they advertise it would mean that they have it for guests use. My understanding is that it can be password protected in which case you would need the password, but usually in hotels/holiday apartments this isn't the case. Don't ask me how it works though, that's a step too far.
Much the same as when you go to a coffee shop and they have 'free WiFi' (at least they do here) and you just switch on your laptop and away you go.

Good afternoon all my luvverly Rafateers
Woofs ..... You wear pants
The only knowledge I have of Wi-Fi is that when Mr Denz is away, he can just switch on his iphone and is Wi-Fi connected automatically.....I'll check with him when he comes in, but I think that's correct.
Part one of the getting Denzy ready for MC is complete. Hair colour done.....manicure done and pedicure done.
Gradually getting clothes sorted and ironed....Mr Denz has checked the weather forecast for the early part of next week and it's going to be dry and in the Mid 60's...fabulous

Re: Rafateers Ahoy!!!
Forgot to say <thankyou> to the two most knowledgeable technical Rafateers for explaining how WiFi works.
We is <doomed> ...
Fer's had a hissy fit and won't be defending his title at Barcelona. He's not injured or anything (which was my first scare) and will be making up the Fer bit to Feli in Monaco. <phew> (Only sorry Womble ) He's fallen out with one of the organisers who he says looks after the foreigners over the Spaniards and even Alberto Costa can't change his mind. Its a google-mangle article, so I won't <link> it, but interestingly, 64% of Fer's points are made up from what he achieved in last year's clay court season. He says he's not too concerned if he drops into the top 20 cos he's not got much to defend after Wimbers and will hope to made amends in the second half of the season.
Feli was having his legs waxed and a manicure.
