Shocking call on 1st knockdown, on another note, Jim Watt is a tube.
Completely called the 2 replays back to front.

Big round 3 for Peterson

Even in the first two rounds, Khan did take a few. Looked rubbery at times in the third, there. Might be a more interesting fight than I anticipated, though I expect Khan to use that as a wake up call and take control now.

Peterson's doing a pretty good job of rolling with a lot of Khan's punches, Khan doing a good job of blocking many of Peterson's. 2-2 in rounds for me after 4, though the knockdown means I've got it 38-37 to Khan.

Absolutly, 1st knockdown was more legitimate than the 2nd in my opinion but both should of counted.

Sixth for Khan as well - though I wish he'd pack it in with all this 'that didn't hurt me, look at me shaking my head' showboating. Absolutely hate seeing that in professional boxing regardless of who's fighting.

agreed - made the point on another thread - if you arent hurt - focus on what you are doing wrong and not on trying to prove you aren't hurt.
Re: Anyone watching Khan? ()Including result discussion)
Khan deducted point for pushing... interesting now Khans gonna need to up it big time.

great entertainment, mainly due to Khan taking risks he doesnt have to. this ref is an idiot too, he is focussing on pushing and the head down by Peterson. N

Eighth wasn't an easy round to score. Gave to Khan but wouldn't argue if someone saw it the other way. All credit to Peterson - never expected him to be winning the exchanges on the inside but his bulldog spirit and strength here are to be admired.
Very, very good fight so far. Hats off to both.

Fight sounds close. Does Khan really have to up it in the second half to make sure hes on the right end of a decision?

Def needs to up it, I have it level atm. But Peterson's aggression could easily swing it for him, though as Im typing Peterson is in a bit of bother.

Peterson, barring any knockdowns, needs at least two of these last three rounds to stand any chance. Perhaps all of them. Gave the ninth to Khan.

For me that last round showed the difference in quality of trainers, Hunter telling Peterson to go for jabs which he is getting beat to everytime.
Roach tells Khan go for uppercutm works a treat.

Well, Khan clearly won the elventh as well. Would be a shocker if Peterson got it, even if he wins the last round - barring a desperate rally resulting in a stoppage, of course!

Have to make that a 9-9 round in the twelfth, Khan was clearly on top for the most part.

Re: Anyone watching Khan? ()Including result discussion)
thats 3 points lost in this fight - is that legit point taken?
Re: Anyone watching Khan? ()Including result discussion)
So close, Khan needs to learn how to defend without spoiling.

Re: Anyone watching Khan? ()Including result discussion)
I only partially agree, Khan was warned on numerous occassions, so deserved his deductions, but think could argue Peterson could have had a point deducted at some point...
Khan looks surprisingly relaxed though for a fight that I think should be a draw.

Awaiting the decision. Khan 114-111 for me barring any errors in my maths.

Anybody else find it fascinating that in such a close fight the fighters demeanours are soo different, Khan looks confident and relaxed whereas Peterson looks resigned to defeat.

Points deductions in last cost him, unbelievable.....
Btw should maybe stick a spoiler warning on the thread title.

Peterson by split decision! What a shock!
Will get it out the way - I disagree. As I said above, had it 114-111 to Khan. He'll be kicking himself all the way back to England after those point deductions.
But still, congratulations to Peterson. Superb heart and grit. I imagine there'll be an instant rematch.

Khan can definitely have a claim the ref cost him slightly cause should of had another knockdown in the 1st round which would of meant he kept his titles.
