England V Wales Mutual Appreciation Thread
First topic message reminder :
Well lads, this is a variation on a theme as we all love our teams and our rugby. I just want to say that these are good times for welsh rugby whilst England have at least started to shake things up and are developing some decent foundations after most of the old guard have been discarded which is encouraging. Most on here see Wales as slight favourites but the game is at Twickenham and home advantage is a big factor in the 6 Nations so it remains a bit of a 50/50 - Let's have some positive banter on here as we all have to come back on Monday. For the welsh fans, win or lose these are still good times for welsh rugby and we are developing a young powerful side with some srength in depth. Likewise England a win would really be something under the circumstances and perhaps the danger then is getting carried away too much, but I'm sure you'd take the win all the same . A defeat for England is certainly not a disaster as long as it is within reason and 3/5 in a brave new english world would be a plus IMO. Let's hope its a cracker and we can all come back on Monday and hurl abuse about or be brave and humble with our success or defeat. Kipling didn't just make cakes he also said you have to be aware of those 2 imposters. Enjoy it lads.

Re: England V Wales Mutual Appreciation Thread
apparently Wales have more caps on their bench than England have across the entire team. CD Charlies misfortune may have a silver lining....
Wales are another level to the previous opposition and England are rightly the underdogs. The boys have nothing to lose.
ESPN classic are about to show the 2003 England Wales 6N game, for any English fans who fancy a bit of joyful reminiscing

Busy wathing the scarlets v treviso game. In possibly a omen for the weekend, Scarlets have conceded two tries inside 5 minutes, including a charge down try.

The Scarlets minus their internationals, at home, against an Italian side. Yes, truly an omen for England v Wales at Twickenham.

Is the charge down try the new first choice attacking weapon in rugby? It's looking like it might be...

And now a Scarlets player "binding" to a ruck with just a shoulder. Lucky to avoid a yellow there. It looks like the Welsh clubs are singing from the same sheet as the senior international team! and so are the refs...

Mitey, sorry mate, been away so didn't reply to your question (Pony) and left you getting tackled. Has the whistle gone yet ? or is there time for one more answer ?

No, the District Commissioner decided the Pony's forward roll though dangerous, was entirely unintentional,no citing. Welsh got away with it.

Nice to hear the end of the story, thanks! Glad nobody was seriously hurt.
Just watching Wilkinson's incredible silky drop goal in that 2003 classics game. Got bored with the Treviso/Scarlets thing. Scarlets not even making a game of it. Wilkinson really is without peer in the history of the game for his prodigious point accumulation via the boot.

Did they? Crikey. I stopped watching early on because the quality of the rugby was so poor, and despite being on English commentary via the red button, they kept leaving the rugby to interview people in Welsh in the stadium. I can't stand that kind of coverage, so I switched over to watch the Wales v England 2003 6N classic on ESPN. Actually I'd forgotten how many chances Wales blew to score tries in that game. Some of the missed chances were just criminal.

Dot Davies You boys starved or something, she's a welsh version of Hilda Ogden with a personality to match, can't stand to listen to her ingratiating grovel when she's interviewing players - its painful

"Most of England's points have come from the boot of Owen Farrell, who starts his first international game at fly-half against the Welsh. But England assistant coach Andy Farrell, Owen's father, said he sensed "something different in the air"".
Does this mean Andy is predicting that Owen will miss all his shots at goal tomorrow?

She got the job because Martin Johnson had a habbit of ripping off the nuts of the male interviewers when england lost. with Sonia he just stares at the floor and tried to evade the questions. He couldn't be rude to her.

Well done Wales! You've now leapt over us in the IRB rankings. 3 places in three weeks! You can add that to the nicely sized parking bays in Ffflafflenwyffly and your robustly medicore gastronomy.

Reality time Lancaster, was probably aiming for 3 wins out of 5 with his inexperienced team.Arguably there 2 easiest fixtures they won,Wales yesterday
ended there run midterm.
Possibly England`s best recent performance,Owen Farrell showed the potential
to eventually make FH his own.
Well Done Wales, congratulations on another triple crown,France still have to beat Ireland and Scotland before 6Ns decider.
Good game ,well done both sides!!!.

They could win both of those games and still not claim the Grand Slam. Talk about arrogance.......... and you're not even Welsh, or French, or even a Kiwi...... , Yeah, I forgot, you're English aren't you? OK, so ignore the arrogance bit, that's a given, what about England v France in two weeks time emack?
I reckon England will win that one, and that would put them back in the mix for the 6N, and if Ireland turn them over next week (well within Ireland's envelope of performance), it's still up for grabs isn't it?
