Any other Hants fans out there?
Feeling confident that we can return to Div One, with some great young talent coming through, Briggs, Vince, Dawson, Bates, Wood and also the expeirence of Adams, Dimi and Carberry.

Not a Hants fan - but still interested to see how they get on in Div 2. At the moment looks like rain may rescue them from a difficult position.....

Hampshire struggling badly in second innings at 60 - 5. Only chance to draw seems to lie with Carberry.

Re: Hampshire Thread
Is this Bates the wicketkeeper who was said not to be a good enough batsman to hold down a regular place in the modern game, (which demands that a keeper these days should also be at the least a reasonable batsman)?

Re: Hampshire Thread
Thats the one! He is a brilliant keeper, if he works on his batting he will play for England. No doubt about it. Towards the end of last season his batting improved, hope he can keep it up.

Jimbo - good efforts today from Bates, Wood and Riazuddin (who he?) but too many others had already left them with too much to do.
If Hants are serious about promotion, you've got to seriously step up a gear and not end up second best to the likes of Gloucs.

Guildford, 100% agree, just hoping it gives us a wake up call that it wont be easy.
Riazuddin is a youngster who bowls, but can be handy with the bat. In a warm up match he scored 55 off 42 balls
We seem to rely on the youngsters too much eg Wood, Briggs, Riazuddin
Balcombe will be key for us this season
