England v Australia
First topic message reminder :
Any thoughts on the ODI series starting a week today? How will the teams line up - in particular, will Australia follow England's lead & field 5 "proper" bowlers? If Morgan excels, can he force his way back into the test side?

Been catching up on the last couple of days...
Overall a very good performance from England. We had the best of the conditions but, in my view, 200 was never enough. They got there in spite of a painful first 10, where they should at least have found 10-15 more runs. They weren't great in the middle period either. England bowled well.
We rather cruised to victory in boring fashion, but that was all that was needed.

Still think we should give fringe players a go and send test players off to the 4 day game

Weather not looking good for tomorrow, doubt we'll get a game in. Hope the weather improves for the SA series.

Poor old Woakes no amount of injuries or withdrawals can get him a game for England, now the rain intervenes!

Aussie will be annoyed, they surely wanted to get that tour win and were up for this.

Re: England v Australia
fingers crossed but not looking good.
this whole thing was an exercise in annoying Aussies. Let them get easy wins against county sides then beat them three times and rain on them.
They'll be doing a sun dance. a 32 over bash might be exactly what they fancy.

Oh right, just seemed so dismissive of eng the other day, like Aussie just had of turn up, whatever they scored was bound to be enough.
Sounds like a very good coach , looking at wiki, to be fair.

Vaughn makes a good point.. eng won't cope with the turn on this pitch as they can't play spin.
aussie should win it fairly easily then according to him.

Re: England v Australia
it was a wicket off wide that brought George Bailey to the crease. You could say it was A Wonderful Wide for Aussie the way he is smashing the bowlers already.

Re: England v Australia
This Australia ODI side seriously looks short of real class. Neither the batting nor the bowling units are working in order. Although there is class in the bowling unit including James Pattinson and when fit Pat Cummins, Hilfenhaus hasn't quite mastered the OD game, Lee is approaching the end of his career and they don't have a real quality spinner.
The batting, as has been exposed by England brutally, is too dependent on Watson, Warner and Clarke. One of them, David Warner is still finding the range of the challenge that international cricket is.

Bopara is trying to bowl rather harmlessly, but the Australians are having none of it, they are intent on self-distruction, Nobody can bully them if they themselves take matter into their hand!.

Re: England v Australia
Oz in a good position really. Wickets in hand and ready to pile on the runs now.
and i see BBC guy mouthed off about the Aussie low score and so they are now smashing it. Time these guys learned to shut up.. nothing to be arrogant about here as it looks a tough wicket to bat on and it'll be under lights.
stuart broad has been taking some stuffings at times here and did again there. He's a worry at the moment, very expensive at times.
130 enough to win in spinning conditions then the bbc suggest.
145 then. I'd say that was a very good result in the end for Aussie and a poor end from england to let them off the hook again. They must fancy this on what looks a minefield against a team who cannot play spin? has to be 3-1 come the end of today.
41 runs in the last four from Bailey. That has knocked the stuffing out of england. He was too good there. It was of course a pp but the Bbc prefer to ignore that and just mentioned England got stuffed by him lol.

englands fringe bowlers amaze me every time they come out. we have so much depth. who would have guessed bop and tred would have the best figures.
tthat 145 would be beaten in 20/20 on this track lets be honest

Dodgy last two overs aside, that was a fantastic bowling effort by England. Bopara has shown himself to be a more than decent ODI bowler and England should chase this down.

Three overs lost and a reduction of eight runs from the target. How does DL work again? Anyway, England just need 138 from 29 overs.

If they are going to prod at 2 an over they might as well just declare and shake Aussies hand.

If they had 32 overs this would look more reachable.
The revised target was a big help to the Aussies.

We've reached the 20 over mark which is enough for me to say...England have won the series 4-0, top effort lads. Just over a week till the main event of the cricketing summer starts.
