Djokovic's Father Empty Djokovic's Father

Post by HM Murdock Tue 06 Nov 2012, 2:16 pm

There are reports suggesting that the illness of Djokovic's father has become critical. He has been transferred to a specialist hospital in Germany.

This is a google translation of http://www.novimagazin.rs/vesti/srdjan-djokovic-prebacen-u-minhen-na-dalje-lecenje

"Srdjan Djokovic, father of tennis player Novak Djokovic, he was transferred to the Clinical Center of Serbia in Munich, for further treatment. Djokovic is in hospital in Munich Grosharden transferred to a private plane Monday morning for further treatment.

He was first transferred to the hospital in an ambulance accompanied by anesthesiologists at Nikola Tesla Airport, from where he flew to Munich.

Groshadern Hospital is one of the most famous in Europe, and the most similar to the MMA, reports Blic.

Srdjan Djokovic, was located in the Clinical Center sepsis. Doctors have found that the bacterium staphylococcus blood there, as well as problems with his lungs and spine.

His condition was critical."

With his grandfather's passing in April, 2012 is turning out to be a tough year for Novak and his family.

That's truly nasty although only a small % die from it. Pneumonia will be the immediate worry and staph infections that get inside the body are hard to treat...he'll be on powerful IV antibiotics for a few weeks. The worry will be any severe organ damage from inflammation or abcesses caused on his spine. It's uncommon to get severe internal staph infection but there are various ways to become infected.

This must be a huge worry for Novak...surprised he's playing really unless he's been given assurances its not too serious.

Let's hope he has indeed been given such assurances.

Novak did seem totally calm and composed at his special presentation ceremony today.

No sign of the specs which have appeared in various recent photos when he's been booted & suited. I can't for a moment imagine there's much wrong with his eyesight, given how little trouble he has in picking up bullet serves fired in his direction. So do we assume the specs are merely a passing fad/fashion accessory ... ?? Cool

edit : have just remembered he uses contact lenses does he not ....?

Wow, Lydian, that's some knowledge there! Do you work in the medical field or are you just a very capable researcher?

He does indeed. He had problems with one in a match v Rafa at WTF 2010, if memory serves correctly.

I hope the infection can be localised and does not spread.
