First topic message reminder :

Some boxers should really be banned from Twitter!

A few years ago James Toney declared he could clean out the UFC by outboxing MMA fighters under their own rules, only to be pummeled by an old Randy Couture in 3 mins. Now Tyson Fury is at it. Only this time he's calling out the newly crowned, in his prime, HW champion Cain Velazquez:

http://www.mmafighting.com/2013/1/4/3832344/morning-report-ufc-undefeated-heavyweight-boxer-tyson-fury-challenges-cain-velasquez-mma-fight

I thought people had realised the difference between the 2 sports and the skillsets involved, and am very surprised that Fury would be so silly as to bring this up. Under MMA rules this would be the most embarrassing of mismatches.

But you're right he did beat the great Chisora..

Price has looked devestating. What he hits.....falls and stays down. But who or better still, what has he fought? Its OK looking good against Z level opposition. EVen that cabbie Fury fought is better than anything Price has fought.

I know it's off topic, but would you mind re opening the Klistchko thread? You responded to me and I didn't get the chance to reply. I promise not to call you an Uncle Tom.

Cain cracked Junior on the chin in the first round and the fight would have been over if he knew how to finish a fight. Even a fighter like Fury would have cleaned Dos Santos's clock inside the next five minutes but no, Cain proceeded to drag this out for another 20 minutes and even let Dos Santos back into the fight in the last round.

All Fury's done is highlight how woefully inadequate MMA fighters are when it comes to boxing (something we already knew)

Obviously MMA fighters aren't as good at boxing as pure boxers - they have to be good at a wide range of disciplines. Plus, their boxing style needs to be adapted to cope with the threat of kicks and takedowns - it's not really comparable.

there is a general rule for this kind of thing, the boxer wins a boxing match and the mma fighter wins a ufc fight. may as well call out tigers woods the sports are that different.

hes only done it for attension and its worked, fury is far far removed from the fool people take him for, check his bank balance and see how well he's done for himself so far.

It really is that simple.

It has Al Bernstein though... The guy knows his stuff and points out loads of interesting things. He's one of the best in the business.

You're right though, some of the guests are ridiculous and the quality is poor. But it's boxing on Terrestrial TV, something we've all moaned about from the BBC 606 days!

I think Fury knows what he is doing. In real life he comes across as fairly affable. I think hes basically just self promoting with all this and trying to drum up interest. Seems like a fairly measured and thought out tactic rather than simply being a muppet.

We're talking about him....so he's doing something right.

Does anyone hear of Price between fights? Does anyone know where he is or indeed who he is? A street somewhere in Scouseland is missing an idiot.
