Why, is Pacquiao interested in fighting him?

Shouldn't have thought so. Joe was only thirty seven. Speaking of which, tomorrow would be Joe Louis' 97th. birthday, were he still alive.

Joe Louis had come out of retirement to fight Rocky Marciano and he was seventy six years old

Do you run a Barber shop Windy?
I could just imagine you saying, "Floyd Mayweather had come out of retirement to fight Manny Pacquiao and he was seventy six years old."
To try and explain that defeat in about 25 years time.

Moi, D4 ? Mais, non !
Besides, I'm a neutral as far as those two are concerned. I'd be more likely to be whinging about some fat heavyweight from today coming back to take the title at seventy six. Sam Peter, or suchlike.

Re: Watched coming to America this weekend.....
Without wanting to revisit the why's and wherefores of the debate one of the primary reasons I still want the Manny and Floyd fight to happen is to see how D4 reacts if Floyd wins (and I think he will). Would dearly love to think he would be a man about it and give credit where it is due, but have serious doubts.

Great scene, maybe we could have barber shop sticky instead of the pub one.

That's not a bad idea, mate.
Maybe when the ' pub ' thread has run its course you should remind us and we could give it a go.

Re: Watched coming to America this weekend.....
I think it's a nailed on certainty that whether Floyd comprehensively outboxes Manny (which I believe will happen) or steps up the pace and stops him (be nice to see Floyd do that just to put the cherry on the icing on the cake), D4 will not admit that manny was beaten fair and square.rowley wrote:Without wanting to revisit the why's and wherefores of the debate one of the primary reasons I still want the Manny and Floyd fight to happen is to see how D4 reacts if Floyd wins (and I think he will). The fact is that for all his posturing and hyperbole, D4 knows Floyd will beat Manny and over the years has systematically built up a reservoir of pre-prepared excuses as to why he lost.
School run, Congress, singing, ulcers, man-flu, wrongs socks etc.
The only uncertainty is exactly how many of them D4 trots out and in what order.
Alongside the poll for what round will Floyd beat Manny in should be a poll asking what excuse will D4 use first!

"There they go! There they go! Every time I start talking about boxing, some white man got to pull Rocky Marciano out their a$$! That's there one, that's there one! Rocky Marciano! Rocky Marciano! Let me tell you something, Rocky Marciano was good - but compared to Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano ain't sh*t!"
There you go Windy, one particular passage which always sticks in my head.

Bless your heart, Chris.
There's a moment in one NYPD scene in which Sipowicz mentions the Johansson kayo of Patterson, to which his African American boss replies : " My, you had to go back a long way to find a white heavyweight who could punch, didn't you ? "

I think about 3 of the guys in the barber shop are actually Eddie Murphy with make up, and the other 2 are Arsenio Hall. Actually i think the singer from Sexual Chocolate is Arsenio Hall as well.

Dear Windy,
Please feel free to use the word "black". It's a lot less patronising

Dear African American people everywhere.
I promise to do my best, eager as I am to not appear patronizing. Regrettably, though, old habits sometimes die hard, so I beg your indulgence while I make the necessary adjustment.
Yours sincerely,
Windy.

Yup. The white guy is Murphy, as is the hairdresser, and the prince. Hall is the other black patron, and the prince's aide. The chap having his hair cut is Cuba Gooding Jr.

Good shout - I forgot about Cuba Gooding Jr! Good memory Baltimora!! It's a good way to keep actor salary down i guess! Mind you, Eddie Murphy has done this in a number of films - before he crashed and burned!

Norbit anyone..? Coming to America has some great scenes, but the whole film ain't the best. Isn't Samuel L Jackson the hold-up guy in the fast food place too? I believe he is.

Yeah, Darrell is Eric La Salle (check spelling) from E.R. Trading Places always beats Coming to America in my book, on account of Jamie Lee Curtis's bra knackers.
Also, the two tramps in Coming to America who are given a load of cash are the dame two actors who played the old guys in Trading Places. Sort of a reference to Coming to America, because the y ended up skint in that.
