Best thing on TV right now
TV Cup - Round Three: Best thing on TV right now
Round Three of the TV Cup is another one for those who love their modern television. What is the best programme running now? What series or show in the recent months or returning soon is the reason to turn on your television?
We have a wide list of shows from documentaries to sitcoms, wrestling to reality shows and sport to news.
PLEASE PICK TWO OPTIONS (Vote Cancelling is on this round)
Last round's winner was Nakatomi Plaza who proves to us all that he is the most childish.
The points were shared as follows:
Nakatomi Plaza 12
Tino 10
Hero 10
Bull 7
SeanMichaels 6
Adam D 5
Superflyweight 5
Marky 3
OnlyTrebleWinners 2
My fine young self 2
The Next Round is......well, we havent had an 80's themed round yet so Best Programme Aired in the 1980's. As far as I'm concerned this is any programme that ran through or was on during the 1980s. Younger members, you will have watched something and if you havent then you dont deserve to win anyway!
Send me at least two choices, up to four would be brilliant.

Don't see me winning this round! Voted for Breaking Bad, which keeps on getting better and better, and It's always Sunny, which is hilarious. I think Kaitlin Olson's the best comedic actress going. Parks and Rec narrowly misses out on my vote.

Went for QI & South Park from Game of Thrones. Once upon a time it would have been Match of the Day but there's just too much talking in it now.

Same here. Stuff you Jeff.
I fear for mine though. It is a brilliant programme but has only just started. It has death, war, sex, love, family, humans and monsters. All in glorious HD. Cast your votes now.
Anyway, I went for Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead. Both excellent shows.

Game of Thrones as it's just ace (fully trained lawyer winning technical arguments I am not) and QI for its irreverent fact provision and light hearted education in areas that often no-one really gives a toss about.

Each to their own mate
But it is definately worth giving a go. At 10 episodes a season it isn't overly long either
I would have liked to have seen the Newsroom get a mention (think season 2 starts in a couple of weeks). First season blew me away it was that good

Cant understand how no one else has voted for Sherlock. I can only assume hardly anyone has watched it.

Didn't you say The Following had been taken?
Its a Hard Choice between Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead or MOTD
Can't believe Always Sunny still isn't on British as its possibly the funniest serie ever!

Azzy, my brother-in-law is a 'jobbing' actor and has been in the last two GoT series as an extra. He was in the Battle of the Blackwater in series 2 and a Wildling in series 3! I didn't see him in any scenes but I have seen pictures of him with Peter Dinklage, Charles Dance and some of the others.
That make me a much bigger fan than you!

My uncle turned down a speaking part in Braveheart, the idiot, and I turned down 2 years of work as an Uruk-Hai in the LOTR trilogy. I wish to God I'd have done that.

He plays Bron doesn't he? He is excellent. Paul Kaye from Dennis Pennis fame is in it as well.
My brother-in-law is actually Canadian but lives over here. He has been to Iceland and lots of other places during the filming of GoT. Still yet to see him in a scene though!

Jeremy Kyle. Gotta love the chavs on that show.
BBC Breakfast is good, especially when Sally Nugent is showing her legs.
MOTD is my other vote as well as BBC Breakfast.

I knew I would do badly this round so I feel that I need to defend my choice of Parks and Recreation which is the funniest thing on tv right now.
I believe that I might be the only one on the forum who watches it. It's like the office but better.

Big Bang theory and GoT. Haven't seen Breaking bad yet though I've ordered the box set, couldn't vote for my own, Sherlock was close, the quiz shows like QI have plummeted down hill from great shows to thoroughly irritating shows. Tempted by the News but I don't watch it often enough. South Park is a less cultured, less funny version of Family Guy

I agree! Didn't think the UK Version was very funny, bit cringe worthy at times but the US series (after a slow start as i didn't enjoy series 1) is Brilliant!
Re: TV Cup - Round Three: Best thing on TV right now
I'm pretty sure it's illegal to say that the US version of an originally UK show is better. Because it has never ever even nearly had the slightest possibility of pretending to be true. Ever. US versions of UK shows are universally dross

Well clearly not as you have 2 votes. Obviously one of them is yours as you're a very insecure character, but someone else must like it. Unless you rigged the voting of course.
I have no votes for Micro Monsters. Insects fighting in HD. What is not to like about that? It had a Praying Mantis getting a whooping from a Bombardier beetle. Awesome stuff.

Re: TV Cup - Round Three: Best thing on TV right now
The us office is like typical average us comedy- soap style- You get drawn in to liking the characters and caring for them. Its like friends, big bang, cheers etc..
Its ok- but nothing special or ground breaking. Just following a specific formula like a pop song or a soap opera!
Curb and allways sunny on the other hand- Badda Bing!! thats some funny stuff
Up there with the UK greats like Peep show and the Office.

Get on it mystir, you won't be disappointed. Spiders eating each other, centipedes fighting, double hard beetles. All sorts of arthropod battles. Brilliant.
