TV Cup - Round Three: Best thing on TV right now
First topic message reminder :
Round Three of the TV Cup is another one for those who love their modern television. What is the best programme running now? What series or show in the recent months or returning soon is the reason to turn on your television?
We have a wide list of shows from documentaries to sitcoms, wrestling to reality shows and sport to news.
PLEASE PICK TWO OPTIONS (Vote Cancelling is on this round)
Last round's winner was Nakatomi Plaza who proves to us all that he is the most childish.
The points were shared as follows:
Nakatomi Plaza 12
Tino 10
Hero 10
Bull 7
SeanMichaels 6
Adam D 5
Superflyweight 5
Marky 3
OnlyTrebleWinners 2
My fine young self 2
The Next Round is......well, we havent had an 80's themed round yet so Best Programme Aired in the 1980's. As far as I'm concerned this is any programme that ran through or was on during the 1980s. Younger members, you will have watched something and if you havent then you dont deserve to win anyway!
Send me at least two choices, up to four would be brilliant.

It is a brilliant show, Jersey, just not as good as The Walking Dead or GoT.

Good shout. I really enjoyed that show and Jeff Daniels was brilliant.
Aye, can't wait for season 2, hopefully more of the same. Really solid script writing and a good cast.

I think the criteria was that it could be shows that have been on in the last 8 months? Or something like that. AD hasn't been on TV for years...

Yes, there is a world of difference between the Vespa Crabro and the Vespula Vulgaris, however they are both members of the Vespidae family so I can see how Union was confused.

I went for The Vampire Diaries because it is the best show on tv.
Hot girls, plot twists and turns in every episode, great characters great bad guys and hot girls.
Second i went for The Walking Dead because it's pretty awesome.

It's the Vespa mandarinia that you really wouldn't want to bump into. Giant Asian Hornet. Tough hombre and I don't care how big a grasshopper you are, you're going down against one of those bad boys.

Re: TV Cup - Round Three: Best thing on TV right now
Cant believe someone said Family Guy was a more cultured version of South Park. South Park is far more cultured, with better writers less throwaway rubbish because Family Guy struggle to right jokes that fit the show. I like Family Guy (although American Dad is better) but it has no discernible notion of being cultured.
I went Parks and Rec and Always Sunny because I love sitcoms and both are the best things ive watched this year. Always Sunny is a must watch in my opinion, absolutely incredible programme.

Also, I like The Walking Dead, except for every character in the programme. They are pretty much all extremely unlikable except Daryl. Ruins the show, I generally skip any conversations they have when Zombies arent nearby, and the finale to the last season with the guy with the eye patch was so stupid

the show is good and very entertaining. However Andrew Lincoln is the only truely great actor and i question the plot too much. tOP 5 US BOX SETS OF ALL TIME for me. But behind Lost, Breaking bad, sopranoes and GOT
I still cant get over the lack of votes for sherlock. It truely is on another level acting and writing wise... it is also up there on its production value with some of its US conterparts(which many uk shows arnt)

Neither Lost or the Walking Dead get within 100 miles of either the Wire or the West Wing

You've hit the nail on the head there about the Walking Dead, whilst it's a great series virtually ever cast member you're happy about them being ripped apart by zombies, you actually cheer when the likes of Lori and Andrea die!

The wire hey- Bar idris elbas character it bored me to often. The west wing isnt my cup of tea.
Lost is 10 times the walking dead.
Actually tell a lie it isnt in my top 5 anyway. Deadwood !!
I even prefer homeland to The walking dead

I do!
- Walking Dead:
- I cant believe a programme made me happy about someone dying in childbirth. And that kid, what a Kumquat that kid is.
I'm surprised by Dexter getting so few votes, outside of my loyalty to sitcoms Dexter is the best thing America has produced in a long time. Cracking story, characters, pace and timing, mystery and plot.

Arrested Development is outstandingly good (first half of the new series a bit slow though) but its not on TV plus I would have picked it myself then felt bad cos I can give myself first choice too easily (I picked Gene Parmesan for the detective round)

Its easily the best series I've watched of its kind. Not scared of making big calls and is dedicated to driving its plot in a real force to an ending that is inevitable but realistic, even if no one wants it to happen. I love crime thriller, but its both that and not, its wonderful stuff.
Considering you like a programme like Breaking Bad where NOTHING EVER HAPPENS! Drove me mad watching it, all I could think of were hipsters laughing at there being drugs and how cool they were cos Malcolm's Dad is now an edgy mo'fo.

Its just not innovative. Its an ok programme that does well to craft episodes without using a big story. Its very American in that respect, its knows how to keep a story ticking over without doing much.

I have watched almost it all- The show was good untill the last few series- which have been rehashed rubbish- Typical way to end a US TV show. Just kill it with quanity and no quality.
All I can say by your comments is I hope you havent even seen an episode of BB(no disresepct) But your above comments are pretty stupid if you have.
Do yourself a favour and just watch it(from the start)- If you truely like some of the stuff you like . You should love BB

Me and my wife love the same TV, but I like BB, and she hates it. I have to watch it by myself now, such is her dislike. Same as Chris, she doesn't like the fact that not much happens.

Haven't heard of a lot of the picks to be honest. I have gone for Boardwalk Empire & Game of Thrones, mostly because I have seen them, but also because I enjoy wobbly bottoms and boobs, and there are plenty of those in both shows.

Re: TV Cup - Round Three: Best thing on TV right now
Its just not innovative. I have watched it from the start for two series and its too hipster-ish for me, overrated. Its got that modern "hey man, its happening but you know, we wont rush, just be cool yeah" kind of stoned TV vibe that gets on my jubblies a bit. I believe everything done on a TV programme, especially that kind of programme, should be done for a reason and not enough of it is.
Dexter meanwhile is better paced with a good mixtures of stories within stories. I like thriller and crime stuff, its all I read, the pacing of Dexter is brilliant and the layers fantastic. The last season ending in a way that had me more gripped than anything Ive ever watched.
Its preference thing obviously, I'll get round to BB eventually again, but it doesnt make me want to watch it.

Seriously can someone please tell me who nominated 10o'clock live? I will happily ban them. Is like a bad sixth form studenty piece for a media stuides course. Someone needs to tell them that good satire goes after all parties, even as someone whose politics are pretty liberal/left wing I find the agenda on there ridiculous.
