surrey vs essex eagles
Surrey have named a thirteen man squad for the Friends Life t20 match against the Essex Eagles at the Kia Oval this evening.
Glenn Maxwell plays his final game for Surrey before he joins the Australian A squad for their upcoming tour of South Africa. Gary Wilson returns to the squad having missed Surrey’s last game against the Middlesex Panthers because he was on Ireland duty.
The whole game will be shown on Sky Sports 1.
The Surrey squad to play the Essex Eagles in the Friends Life t20 at the Kia Oval on Monday 15th July:
Gareth Batty (capt)
Zafar Ansari
Steven Davies
Jade Dernbach
Zander De Bruyn
Gary Wilson
Jon Lewis
Azhar Mahmood
Glenn Maxwell
Ricky Ponting
Jason Roy
Vikram Solanki
Chris Tremlett
fair to say the last two on the list will miss out

Re: surrey vs essex eagles
The real key to this could well be our boundary fielding (Roy, Ansari in particular). Don't know if SKY or Churchy have mentioned this but the ropes are right out to the edge on all sides making fours and sixes more difficult than normal.
148-6 off our 20. Par score guessed at the start to be 150. Interesting ....

Surrey well short here IMO, Bopara, Foster and Napier to come, should be comfortable for Essex

20 or so short every time - the bowlers have saved us in previous games but not tonight against one of our bogey teams. Maxwell's last game - good riddance.

Well, that was disappointing. No one ever really dominated for us and consequently we never got a grip.
Good knock from Ponting though and Roy was looking in good form before he was run out.
Bowling wise, we needed someone to come in with 2-16 off 4. They didn't. A 4 over Batty/ Brain combo resulted in 0-44. Says a lot as does our scoring 1 six to the half dozen from Essex. Going back to my earlier post, Roy and Ansari both fielded very well (unlike Mahmood who was statuesque) but they really needed to be in row Z of the Peter May stand!
