Welcome to the 5th Addition of the OMPL.

Scoring

• Predict the winner - 1 point
• Predict the method (KO*/Pts) - 1 point
• Predict Early / Late (for KO) or Unanimous / Split / Majority (for Pts) - 1 point
• Get all three above correct - 3 bonus points
• 10 points will be awarded for correctly predicting a draw.
• Wild Card – Each week you are to select two fights as your WILDCARDS (put a W next to your picks). This fight will score double for you. You are also to select an addition WILDCARD in case a fight is voided, this will then become your safety WILDCARD (put SW next to this pick)
• Upset of the Week – Each week I will decide an ‘Upset’ Fighter…If this fighter is picked by anyone and they win then there score for that fight will double.

Rules

• *TKO, DQ, TD or Retirement all count as KO
• I will list fights 1 - 10, this list will be definitive, when predicting please list fights in the same order.
• Fight predictions can be edited as many times as you like up until the deadline for all entries. Any entries that are subsequently amended will be void.
• If a fight is cancelled, or if a fighter drops out and is replaced, that fight is then void.

We finally have some new winners of the POTW Award! Well done to Reborn and boxxthis who collected 41 points apiece. For boxxthis it takes him up into 2nd place and for the first time bgins to put some pressure on Davidblunkettsuppercut who had a very average week by his standards. I think everyone had a terrible week with the exception of Davidblunket!

Ok folk, table is updated and the scores are done for Week 1 of the season. As many of you have already discovered it was indeed an absolutely shocking week for many of us...without doubt the worst collective effort in the history of the OMPL.

I would like to make everyone aware at this time that I will be putting season 5 on hold for the time being. The reason being having looked ahead to the next two weeks there really isn't too much on in the way of fights. Therefore we will start it up again on the Weekend of the 7th September.

Those who did not participate in Week 1 (we were missing a fair few of our regulars) feel free to join in next time...whilst you may be one week behind this is going to be our longest season yet, so there will be plenty of time to catch up...not that it will take long give the dire effort of most this week.

Anyone who wants to take part but is on holiday during any part of the Season, I will happily send you the fights in advance (bellchees, you enquired...not sure if you have gone away already...if not let me know and I will send them your way later today).

Hopefully you will all come back in September ready to go again, apologies for delaying it...I'm sure you will agree that this always works better when we have plenty of competitive fights to predict.

There's a half decent card in Germany this weekend Owen, (Pulev v Tony Thompson, Abraham etc) and at least three "world title" fights for the little fellows over the pond.

You're the boss though.

Pulev vs Thompson eh. We should be able to see if Price got found out against a world class operator or something well below. I think I rate Thompson higher than others. We could find another young pup found out this weekend!!

You could be right there, which is a worry as the logical progression would be Wlad v Thompson III.

Not really a trilogy the boxing world is calling out for, is it!

Union - There are a fair few fights on as you mentioned, Braehmer, Abraham, Mares, Cruz, Pulev & Narvaez...the problem I have is that I would say only 2/3 at a stretch are anything approaching 50/50...

Next week is a real lull, given the amount of fights over Sep/Oct/Nov I am considering running this one over 12 Weeks!!

Long I know but feel like a 'Super Season' could be good, and keeps things a little different once again.

As such, to start the Weekend of the 7th Sept & then continue through makes things a little easier for me and less complicated for everyone participating.
