The Solheim Cup - Payback time !!!
First topic message reminder :
Remembering all the good natured abuse I got when Europe turned the Ryder cup round.............
Well It's our turn now.......I've tried and tried and tried again but I just can't see how this inexperienced Euro team avoids getting hammered against the likes of Wie, Creamer and Pressel etc etc........
I'll call it 171/2 -101/2..........and that's being nice..............No experience in your team and away from home......
Hope you are all well....

I would have called this session 2.5-1.5 to Europe as I did the morning session. If I'm proved wrong and it becomes another 3-1 to Europe I guess I'll have to take some tips of jock-strap-boy for how to admit I was wrong

Surprised that Europe are leading after 2 sessions.
But would be nice from where I'm sitting if the Brits could start putting some points or even half-points on the board...
Come to think of it, they should start a band or something - "Catriona and the Rookies".

Nice crowds for this thing ... I'm thinking better than 50% of your average European Tour event.

In my best Sarah Palin: How's this going for you now TRUSS?
I see your prediction was that Europe would score 10 1/2 points. Done.
Now America's turn, but 17 1/2 looks a mighty high hill to climb.
Long way to go for Europe, but a promising first two days.
Mind, they must have looked at those red jumpsuits that the American ladies were wearing and known they were in with a very good chance.
What was Meg Mallon thinking? Talking about accentuating the negative.

Black is slimming, red is not ! Why do the captains feel they have to wear the same outfits as the players anyway ? Same as baseball managers -- most of them look pretty silly too. Great to see Jodi and Charley team up for a win. Can't believe how wie and Korda left the green before their opponents had finished. Fingers crossed for tomorrow !

A bit of a jaw-dropping scoreline, but only on fine margins from the looks of it - almost all matches very close.
History beckons for the Europeans, but obviously the job's not yet done.

Re: The Solheim Cup - Payback time !!!
Top three matches crucial, TRUSS.
If Europe earns at least one point from those three then there can surely be only one winner - the heart of the order (Head-Wall, Matthew and Suzann) is batting 5, 6 and 7 and the match could be over shortly after they finish.
A bit of a head-scratcher Mallon putting Kerr in at #12, potentially as irrelevant as LoveIII propping up his line-up with an unmotivated Woods.

Think you're being too hard on Woods...........But I would have stuck him out first in chicago...
Kerr is a strange one..............No sense to stick her out last.......Big game player...
Wonder If there is time before the singles to offer Hedblom citizenship..

Peter Hedblom has citizenship - he's Swedish.
(PS: Meant that Woods would surely have been more motivated had he gone out in the top six and been able to make a statement. As it was, his match was irrelevant.)

What about the primping men's teams? Frat boys all!
Fact is, apart from the significant home course advantage, there was no especially good reason why the Europeans should have been underdogs here - winners so far this year on the LPGA Tour include:
Lewis x 3
Kerr
Recari x 2
Pettersen
while Matthew lost a play-off.
Jodi Ewart and Nordqvist don't have anything to prove to anyone while Icher has been around for ever, and Hedwall is a proven winner around the world and was third in the Dinah Shore.

Re: The Solheim Cup - Payback time !!!
This old chook needs her sleep so recorded remainder of 4-balls at level in two matches and up in the other two and watched them finish this morning to find that wur gurils had managed to win all four matches.
Lot of outstanding golf shots being played with even some putts going in on those quirky greens.
Not at all impressed with Michelle Wie walking off to the next tee before her opponent had holed for the half.
Five point lead may sound like a lot but not with twelve points up for grabs!

Re: The Solheim Cup - Payback time !!!
Kerr up last makes sense to me at least (as did Woods) - if it comes down to the last match, then you want someone with nerves of steel and tons of experience. You don't want to be defeated by the occasion itself.
Wie might now have a reputation for this kind of behaviour unfortunately - wasn't it her who went nuts and stoked the crowd up 2 years ago after a birdie in the singles... but before Suzann had finished [and who then shut them up by halving the hole]?

Re: The Solheim Cup - Payback time !!!
Tough one for me to agree with Sky.
Chances are the match will be over by the time Kerr reaches the back nine and surely you want your "bankers" to be putting the Stars and Stripes up on the Leaderboard early?
Just as Woods has never been one for grinding out a team match play result, he'd relish being off early and grabbing the attention with a "W".
Having said all of that, it worked out just right with Woods and one trusts it'll be the same for Kerr. Only just entering the straight however, plenty can happen between now and the final furlong.

TRUSS,
You may not like what you're seeing, but the GC has 18-hole coverage of every match - Match 6 just got going.

What's going on here? I watched it last night... Talk about needle, and not just an isolated incident but events in several matches.
Do the ladies assume that sportsMANship only applies to the male gender? Both sides guilty, although the US team's actions appeared a little more deliberate.

Very impressive from young Hull, Creamer clearly not at her best but even so, super performance. But for a couple of short putts leaked right it could have been a dog license or better.

Re: The Solheim Cup - Payback time !!!
I saw a bit of Charley Hull at the Ladies European Masters (playing with Laura Davies for the first couple of days). As they say, she doesn't seem to know the meaning of fear. Apparently, she felt the need to ask her captain earlier in the week when she was meant to be feeling nervous, as it hadn't happened by then.
I wonder how many GB&I players have participated in both Curtis and Solheim Cups only on winning sides? Still looking quite probable that young Ms Hull will join such a club soon...
