George Edwards has not been considered for selection due to a continuing ankle problem which is being closely monitored by the medical staff.

Gareth Batty (capt)
Hashim Amla
Zafar Ansari
Rory Burns
Steven Davies
Zander De Bruyn
Jade Dernbach
Gary Keedy
Tim Linley
Stuart Meaker
Dominic Sibley
Vikram Solanki
Chris Tremlett
Gary Wilson
fair to say it's s*** or bust

Re: surrey vs warwickshire LV county championship
Thanks, JimBob.
Surrey will be looking to improve the batting and so will probably seek a way to bring Wilson in. As it is ''s*** or bust'' as you say, Keedy might well also get a call up. Several senior heads at risk including Batty, Davies and the Brain.
However, I think it's bust beyond repair already. Team changes probably no more than shuffling deckchairs on the Titanic!

Yes the season's already well and truly gone down the plughole. As it happens the forecast is not good for Birmingham for most of tomorrow. But I don't suppose that will make any difference.

Re: surrey vs warwickshire LV county championship
Just been going through the season (depressing) and our average 1st innings score is 290. However, before the interruption for T20 it was 348 - since the resumption it is just 187. Overall for the season, our average partnership for the opening wicket in the 1st innings is just 19, with just 3 partnerships of over 50, and the highest was 69.

Absolutely hosing it down in Birmingham. No chance of any more play.
Re: surrey vs warwickshire LV county championship
Curiously, Warks have so far bowled 36 overs but still only used three bowlers.

Re: surrey vs warwickshire LV county championship
Excellent bit of commentary (from the Warks based commentator).
Talking about the Surrey v Warks match at Guildford earlier in the season and the rain that came unexpectedly on the third morning he said: "That rain came completely out of the blue. Well, not literally of course"

Re: surrey vs warwickshire LV county championship
Keeps making the same comment about Surrey playing proper cricket shots and picking off a four from most overs without trying any spectacular. Nothing wrong with the comment but it's just the number of times he's made the comment.
But I suppose it's understandable if he has been watching Surrey in the last few weeks!

Hi folks - to be fair to Churchy, he's had a hard time trying to get the 2 guys from Radio Warks to understand it's anything but a formality that we'll get 300!

Good day for Surrey (too late?)
A little word on Hampshire (no other Hants fans on here haha), James Vince with 3 hundreds in as man games, what a talent!

Indeed Jimbo - too late for Surrey. Vince a talent but lacking in consistency in the cc? (Or at least until now?)jimbohammers wrote:Good day for Surrey (too late?)

Re: surrey vs warwickshire LV county championship
Corp, Vince struggled the last couple of years in the county championship (seemed to focus more on the one day stuff) but this year he has really stepped up. A really classy player and i think people forget that he is only 22 years old.Corporalhumblebucket wrote:Indeed Jimbo - too late for Surrey. Vince a talent but lacking in consistency in the cc? I wouldn't complain tho as he was trying to move the score along to get last batting point tonight. It's still touch and go on that.

Exactly. Both pleasing and frustrating to have such a good day after all the bad ones that have gone before it.Corporalhumblebucket wrote:What might have been.....
I've seen Solanki a few times this season. Undoubtedly a very stylish batsman but too often leaving us disappointed. More than once he's made a well crafted 30 or 40 but failed to kick on, typically being dismissed just before or after an interval. Lovely that he made a big century today but I can't help feeling those runs would have had more value recently against Middlesex or, especially, Somerset.
Similarly, Davies has proved he can still bat but left it somewhat late to do so.

Forecast for rain this morning but looks as though it will clear through by 1300 so we might get a bit play later, depending on how wet the outfield has got ...

Re: surrey vs warwickshire LV county championship
Morning Corporal and all - if there is play later on, conditions could suit the Viscount. Can't realistically see us taking 20 wickets in the limited amount of time remaining though.
One "left field" (I believe that's what the younger generation might say!) thought would be try and reach agreement with Warks on setting them a one innings target. I was thinking we could gift them 50 runs through joke bowling in their first innings, they then declare and we forfeit our second innings leaving them to get 350. Admittedly, all rather desperate. Don't know if the Bears would play ball - Fists? Thoughts, anyone?
Btw, some bizarre reporting on Cricinfo about our inevitable relegation being "vindication" for Adams. I've torn into that!
