BT Sports will be FTA for the three premiership rugby games on the weekend 25-27th October. Games are:
So 3 pretty big games. Also in the wc 7th and 14th October the channels will be available during the week for the magazine shows, etc.
Well they said it would happen...and it is. Not really a surprise.

Re: FTA Premiership Rugby Weekend
And the Quins game two weeks ago was FTA.
Also in the text it mentions that channel 57 their entertainment channel is FTA from the 7th Oct for two weeks. So that's two episodes of their rugby programme as well.

Nice to see that the people who slammed BT for failing to live up to their promise of free matches are ignoring this, and instead have moved to different topics to slag of the english game.

These games are FTA on BT sport.
Not on ITV or BBC as originally promised.

This just says it includes FTA and ITV are the expected broadcaster. Nothing says it will be on FTA channel (BT Sport games are available on Freeview for the free weekend.

I'm sure if you use google you will find something that refreshes your memory back to early August when the media announced that BT were not going to show FTA games on Established terrestrial channels as they formally promised.HammerofThunor wrote:Did they promise that? Reference.

No. YOU make the claim. YOU provide the evidence. Also if you're going to lie try to get some facts right. It makes it more convincing. The BT deal was announced in September. The same month my reference was from.

Premiership Rugby's controversial £152million television deal with BT Vision could see up to 12 matches shown live on ITV next season.
Standard Sport understands this could be delivered by ITV’s other channels – not ITV1 - and would potentially reach audience figures not attracted by Sky and ESPN, who currently show live Premiership matches in a deal that ends this season.
Negotiations are still continuing with at least nine matches set for terrestrial television, but this is likely to rise to 12 on the free-to-air platform.
Premier Rugby are delighted with the audience of around 1m for ITV’s Premiership match highlight shows – fronted by ex-England lock Martin Bayfield and Craig Doyle - which dwarfs figures for both ESPN and Sky matches.
It would be a major coup for ITV who have been attempting to broaden their rugby service which spikes each Rugby World Cup as they have first refusal on broadcast rights in the UK.
Then BT said they would not be going through with it in early August.
"The prospect of live Premiership rugby games being aired on free-to-air TV appears to have been kicked into touch after it emerged that BT has been unable to agree a deal with broadcasters.
ITV has signed up highlights of the forthcoming rugby Premiership season, but the broadcaster's potential plan to air some games live has waned.
BT, which launched its sport channels on Thursday night, has spent £736m for the right to broadcast 38 Premier League football games a season, and £152million for up to 69 Premiership rugby games.
After BT signed the deal, Peter Tom, the chairman of Leicester Tigers rugby club, said the contract could see some games broadcast live on terrestrial television.
As the rights holder, it was up to BT to sell the games to broadcasters. It is understood that ITV and the BBC discussed the idea but terms could not be agreed."

Where are the quotes from BT saying they will definitely be on a FTA channel? They said some would be free-to-air. And they are.maestegmafia wrote:Are you too lazy to use google???

That's not a promise to do anything. That's they were in negotiations for it to happen, and it hasn't, most likely because neither BBC nor ITV wanted to stump up the cash for it. That's hardly BTSports fault.

If someone uses made up promises to bash someone else then I think being pedantic is ok. Of course the fact the bashee is English is completely coincidental and the basher definitely doesn't have an agenda.BigTrevsbigmac wrote:Like I said fait accomplit but I guess we are all being pedantic?
