Re: Sammy dies
To be honest, I don't know how sad I can feel about someone who threatened his unarmed wife at gunpoint, with a gun that he also possessed illegally. From that day on, I've really lost my respect and esteem of him.
Further, from what I gather from the report, he seemed like caught in the 'act' before the tragic incident - though that doesn't warrant such an end.
I'll say RIP Samuel Wanjiru for the immense running talent he possessed, not his personality.

Re: Sammy dies
this seems to be a big problem nowadays with many kind of sports stars. it is a very common occurrence in Africa.
he's a very talented runner be interesting to see if people remember him for that rather then the bad things he's done.

Re: Sammy dies
when I posted the link, it still said they were unsure if he jumped or was pushed. it´s changed a lot since and given his past issues, he was obviously having some challenges.
Talented yes, foolish(other adjective of your choice) yes
Lets hope others can learn from this

Re: Sammy dies
He sounds like a bit of a pr*t. Was impressed with his running though. Will be soon forgotten as their are going to be many better runners very soon. Kenya seems to produce them by the 20.

What a talent.
Olympic Marathon Champion at just 21 years of age.
Then came fame and (relative) riches.
Maybe that was the problem for the young man.
