Bit of a quiz - Page 2 Empty Bit of a quiz

Post by Hoggy_Bear Sat 30 Nov 2013, 9:29 pm

First topic message reminder :

Can you name the all-time XI for each test nation according to who has scored the most runs in each batting position? (where a player has scored the most in more than one batting position, the first of those is counted, and the player in second place in subsequent positions goes in the team instead).
There are a few obvious ones, especially among the batsmen and, of course, there is a bias toward more modern players because they play more matches. Still it's quite interesting (at least I think so, but maybe I'm a bit of an anorak). Anyway, shall we start with England 1-11? (No cricinfo unless you absolutely have to).

Thought Kirsten was more more of a number 1? Didn't Hudson bat at two?

thought Rhodes batted at 6 more than Cronje, no? so maybe Rhodes at 6.

on a side-note I'm amazed that Walsh is WI's highest scoring n°11. I know he played a lot of cricket, but given how very few runs he scored... Wink

Rhodes it is at 6.
And you're correct with Gibbs at 2.

Da Silva, Ranatunga and Tilakaratne are all a place too high in the batting order (ie Da Silva batted 4, Ranatunga 5 and Tilakaratne 6 if my memory is correct). Would expect Samaraweera at 5, Kaluwitharana at 7, not sure on n°6. Dilshan may be in with a shout as one of the openers too...

@msp Attapatu and Jayasuriya the wrong way round. Sanga. Mahela, Vaas, Herath and Murali all correct.
@Mad for Chelsea Tilakaratne at 6 and Samaraweera at 5 are both correct.

Don't care how many he scored, but my New Zealand number 11 will always be Fantom the legend!! the absolute best ever they've produced!.
