Canelo vs Pacquiao in works?

Apparently, Fishnets and The Bobfather are in cahoots over this potential money spinner. Who wins and how?

Ridiculous, Pacquiao recently said he is a natural lightwelter and I can't for the life of me see him challenging a natural lightmiddle on canelo

Pacquiao has speed but is just too small and will take a lot of punishment from canelo

Can't see the two teams working together anyway so it's irrelevant

If the 2 promoters could get together for this that would be great for boxing. I'm not so sure it would be great for Pacquaio though. Canelo is to big and busy for Pac now the wee genius has lost a bit of speed which in turn looks to havetook a bit of snap out of his punches

He wasn't too big for Floyd.

I think Canelo is just a bit too big for manny... its one thing Alvarez chasing mayweather's shadow all night and quite another thing fighting a guy who'll come to him.

As far as newspaper articles go, that was very positive. Could only be good news for boxing

I would rather see Pac v JMM 5 and Canelo fight either Rios or Bradley.

The size difference would be immense. Pacquiao probably isn't much over 150 as it is and Canelo's a light heavy on fight night. I still think Pacman's a far, far better fighter but I wouldn't let my guy fight an opponent so much bigger. Especially at this stage of his career with his non elusive style.

The Canelo team would love it though. Big Bucks, legit ATG on his CV...

It could be interesting, Bradley barely laid glove on Pac last weekend. Manny's blazing handspeed may be gone, but his footwork is still a very real thing. Pacquaio produced Floyd-esque numbers on defense vs Bradley, Rios and the first six rounds of the Marquez fight. He'll never be Floyd, but I wouldnt bank on Canelo doing any better... Only real thing Canelo has going for him is his size. Margarito was 165lbs and all six of his clean punches visibly hurt Manny, Canelo will likely be bigger, but I wouldnt bank on him simply walking Manny down.

How can this be in the works when. Canelo is fighting Lara....or is that not happening now!!??

They are fighting July 12. I assume Pac-Alvarez takes place either the weekend of September 15, or the weekend of November 20.

Canelo wouldn't fight Manny. He knows if he lost that fight he'd be another Ricky Hatton.

Manny would outbox Canelo no problem, the guy has feet of stone.

Canelo will know that he doesn't have to box his way in, just guard up, tuck te chin in and walk pacquiao down

Manny will be 36 in December and doesn't have the engine he once had. As someone mentioned before the few punches marg did land hurt pacquiao, especially to the body, and Canelo is bigger, quicker and is a better one punch fighter than marg.

Can't see Canelo wanting to melt down to 152lbs again as his last 2 fights will be at 155 and he's a big lightmiddle and will have at least 20lbs over Manny, don't think manny can handle that at this point of his career. Bradley is a light puncher but he wobbled pac in their last fight so what would canelo do

Considering Canelo couldn't even make 154lbs in his last fight and had to pay Angulo for his troubles, I would imagine Roach would ask for Canelo to drain himself down to 151lbs just like Floyd did.

If this where to happen then I can see another Margarito type disfigurement to Canelos face as Manny will be took quick compared to the drained mexican.

Canelo has proved against Angulo that he can hold a PPV card on his own ,he doesn't need to drain himself again if he doesn't need to

Floyd was different as Floyd's star status atm is a lot higher than Manny and a win over Floyd would do so much more for Canelo than a win for manny would

Yes, agreed WHU. Just think that that would be Manny's request and if Canelo says no to the catchweight then there is no chance this fight happens.

Alvarez might not even beat Lara if that fight comes off. And even if he did win surely the winner of the old mans club between Martinez and Cotto would be more tempting. Both of the guys would love another ppv fight to retire on. The Pacquiao that beat Margarito would beat the Alvarez that lost to Mayweather but he isnt that same fighter. I doubt these promoters were even being serious about this. Just a few lines that sounds good to the media and gives the illusion they might work together in the future to make big fights happen.

Yeah I could see Martinez taking the Alvarez path instead of GGG. Lower risk, hugely lucrative Latin American market.

I don't think this fight is something that fans want. No need for it, old bob needs access to the cross dressers stable though.

If Manny gets off to a start, Alvarez won't win. Absolutely nothing to suggest Pac slows down before Alvarez.
