We were dreadful from minute 1 to minute 80.
I know we were missing players through injury but that is still no excuse for that performance. Just plain awful. That was actually more painful to watch than when Cockers picked an acadamy based team to go to Saracens last year!

When Garvey comes back...how do you fit him, Fearns, Houston etc all in.
Will you rotate, or will Garvey move to lock?
How has Garvey not been an England regular...even a squad regular?
Is Fearns better or Garvey at that 6 spot?

Rotate me thinks, Ferns has really upped his game from what I've seen of him this year but I think there has always been the option of moving Garvey to 2nd row.
If you want to be a top 4 team you have to have lots of depth or be really lucky with injuries these days, I’m just happy we have these guys all playing well and causing the coaches selection headaches

Re: BATH RUGBY - 2014/15
There's seems to be some chat that Garvey fell out with Lancaster in a Saxons game and hasn't spoken since. Great for us, as he was our player of the year last year.
Our first choice backrow remains
6 Garvey
7 Louw
8 Houston
With Fearns able to rotate in any of those positions. Its so important to have depth in this area, as Louw is away with SA and Fearns often injured (picked one up on the weekend)

Re: BATH RUGBY - 2014/15
With Hooper only signing a 1 year deal for this year and Garvey playing at lock in pre season, I wonder if the long term plan will be to have him there with Attwood (now theres some grunt!) and then a backrow of Louw, Burgess and one of Houston/Fearns.
Fearns never seems to have much luck, he started the season really well and is now out for a couple of months.

Ive always been a massive Garvey fan...he would be my England 6 if I was in charge I think.
Do you think Attwood is finally starting to use his size? England could use him smashing thing left right and centre both with and without the ball.

Re: BATH RUGBY - 2014/15
I think Louw was out for 8 weeks? So he will be back after the AI's. In fact probably back when he would have reappeared after SA duty anyway.
Attwood has started the season with a real bang, I think Lancaster's policy of delaying the EPS is really paying dividends.

I'll admit I still don't know where Burgess will fit in but...
Fractured cheek bone for 80 minutes, 36 tackles, over 225 meters gained and MOM. Absolutely incredible performance and the sort of willpower that can't be coached.

That's a few. But how does it compare with others? Just for comparison, your last opponents, Glasgow, have 17 players in the Scotland squad, 3 in the Fiji squad, 1 (I think) in the Canada squad, plus about half a dozen medium / long term injuries. So nearly two full teams away!

Re: BATH RUGBY - 2014/15
Very good looking backline and great to see Agulla, Roko and Watson all start, that back three will threaten all day. We are out of backrow forwards and it doesnt say much for mercer that he can't get a starting spot with Alfie, Fearns, Louw, Garvey and Leroy all out of contention (maybe he has knock and there is no one else to warm pine). As it is with two locks in the backrow, we will get smashed at the old breakdown (dustatoir, Harydoorknocky and bloomin Picamoles as comp). On a pub quiz plus side i reckon thats the tallest pack in the history of bath rugby so plenty of options for Webber to throw at and our front row is big, angry and rested compared to last week and we are at home against a travelling french team to who knows !!!!!!!

Re: BATH RUGBY - 2014/15
That back row is going to be completely outclassed, which means its unlikely our backs will get into the game at all. I'm struggling to see past a hefty loss here.

Re: BATH RUGBY - 2014/15
Argh, so close! I admit I was wrong, the makeshift back row did well, on another day we could have got a penalty at the end there and snuck a win. Probably the end of the tournament for us realistically, Toulouse just had a lot of quality on the bench and that's the real difference between the big French sides and the rest.

Re: BATH RUGBY - 2014/15
great match. totally enthralling.
agree. on another day he might have awarded a pen against toulouse at the death there for clearly wrapping up the ball carrier and not rolling away.
what a great match though. toulouse have some giants in their pack.

Re: BATH RUGBY - 2014/15
Interesting possibility (after RWC 2015, I guess).
On Tuesday, Wallaby scrum-half Will Genia indicated his interest in joining Burgess at Bath. ‘Obviously the chance to possibly play with someone as special a player like that is definitely appealing,’ Genia said.
‘You saw the type of character he was in that NRL grand final. You always want to play with guys who are inspirational and make such an impact.’

I heard that Genia was less keen to move abroad since the departure of McKenzie. We will see I guess, would be a serious chunk of cap used to keep the French clubs at bay.

Genia will go to france, we do need a scrum half and fullback for next year however. So excited by Burgess, he will have some competition on his hands however with eastmond/devoto.

I apologise also. I just think it would be good to see Genia in the AP. Whether it's Bath or another side. Some sides like Quins,Leicester and Saints wouldn't need him but I can think of others which could.
Cook is inexperienced though and Stringer is getting on.
I think Genia's experience would really help.
sirtidychris which club though?
Is burgess definitely going to be a centre then?
