WBC make winner of Golovkin-Rubio mandatory

The WBC president Sulamain has announced that the winner of Golovkin-Rubio will be next in line for a shot at Cottos title. This is good news of sorts although its unclear if it will work out that way. Cotto looks set for a fight in December that is not expected to be ppv. In theory, he would be expected to face either Golvokin or Rubo after that. However with a potential huge fight with Alvarez being looked at these things have a habit of getting pushed back. Cotto may even opt to pursue an Alvarez fight at a catchweight without the title on the line if neccessary.

Probably looking for a bigger sanction fee from Cotto - Alvarez......

Cotto's priority at the moment is surely the Alvarez fight, with the amount of revenue that could generate. To be honest, I'd be surprised if Cotto ever fights Golovkin, he'll probably end up vacating. I remember before Martinez he was saying that if he won, he was undecided as to whether he would defend the belt.

WBC belt is irrelevant for Miguel Cotto. Sure Saul Alvarez would like to fight for the WBC/linear titles, but Cotto's linear title would still make Alvarez the divisional champion. And I'm damn sure the WBC would want Alvarez to hold their title. Unless I'm mistaken Rubio is already mandatory...

Hey, Cotto has to chase the Alvarez fight to put food on the table. Y'know because he's so poor. GGG can live off the flesh of the bears he kills in training.

Apparently Cotto was desperate to face Golovkin as his next opponent but the backlash from fans who demanded he take an easy defence first proved too strong.

Was the prosponed Macklin fight not supposed to be for mandatory for Cotto's WBC belt? That might of been a Kell Brook mandatory though (that joke almost doesn't work anymore, damn you Kell).

Golovkin's grandad won the battle of Stalingrad single handed in 1943 truss. Most historians consider the war as good as over at that point... Although once they'd picked the winners the yanks joined in for a jolly across France to take part in the victory parade.
