Considering the keeper league seems to have caught on, I thought we could try another popular variation on fantasy football. The twist here is that the offensive players don't get to have all the fun, and you get a reason to care who your team is starting on the defensive side of the ball.
Middle linebackers are popular because they make a lot of tackles, but sacks and interceptions are where the big points are so elite pass rushers tend to go early too. Defensive backs are a bit trickier, because it's hard to put up stats when the ball isn't coming near you so the top scorers aren't always the top players. Here's the set up I've gone for:

Rosters:
O: 1xQB, 1xRB, 3xWR, 1xTE, 1xFlex, 1xK
D: 2xDL, 2xLB, 2xDB, 1xFlex

IDP scoring (offensive players score pretty much as normal):
Tackle: 1 point
Assisted Tackles: 0.5 points
Sack: 4 points
Defense Interception: 5 points
Forced Fumble: 3 points
Fumbles Recovery: 1 point
Touchdown: 6 points
Safety: 6 points
Pass Defended: 1 point
Tackles for Loss Bonus: 2 points

Although my Def knowledge is somewhat lacking I would be keen however I'm not going to have any time this week to commit to it unfortunately.

Here's what I want to try for the draft: everyone gets 200 points to put together a team. You send in a whole team (including 8 bench players) with the points spread over the individual players however you like (with a minimum bid of 1 per player, there are plenty of auction draft guides out there if you want some ideas for how to spend the points), and when everyone's sent in theirs (I'd send one to a neutral party to start it off so it can be checked if needed), the person with the highest bid on each player gets that player. Repeat with the leftover points and players until all the teams are full. Downside is that teams could end up a bit lopsided, but it means we don't need to get everyone together for a few hours because you could do it in a couple of minutes a day.

That sounds like it would take time and there's only 4 days until kick off (can't wait!).

I think that'll depend on how much variety there is between people, once asdral and Moot have fought eachother to the death for the last spot we can start, and with a bit of luck we could get a first round in today.

On a general note, please check what position your pass rushers are listed under.

The trick to IDPs is just to pick players that get a million tackles. The novelty kinda wears off quickly once you end up doing the same thing you do with defenses. only 3 times a week.

This kind of draft should happen more often. So much strategy.

Looks interesting for sure, I was thinking of suggesting an FF auction league but never got round to it, maybe next year

I was planning to put up all the teams and a short BPA list to help people out, but in the rush to finish before the first game that got left out. I think the combination of blind bidding (where you're trying to figure out what everyone else is thinking as well) and people being used to drafting in leagues with more teams has let some big names slip through the cracks.

Just waiting for NYJ and his 1 point now, at which point the final spots will be filled with BPA in order of most points left followed by waiver priority.
Most points left is already set to be: Forward Pass - TM Moot - Lowlandbrit, so if you (don't) want a particular position just let me know.
