Glad to see Wozniacki win.
Moved house this weekend and the cable TV man did not show up as planned, so relying on you guys for match analysis for the time being.

Poor old Granollers has been utterly mugged by some shocking decision making.

Re: US Open Day 7
Sharapova played well but Wozzie made Djokovic look immobile with some of the most impressive retrieving I've ever seen from a woman. In the end, despite probably running twice as much, she outlasted Sharapova who physically failed at the end.
Some very great points, a good match.

Granollers playing some brilliant stuff. Feel he is absolutely redlining it though. Fed will still cruise through in 4.

Making Marcel look like Djokodal with these aimless serves. Hit a few unreturners man!

Interesting that Granollers has been totally silent in this match. Doesn't he usually make a fairly horrible grunting sound?

Re: US Open Day 7
I'm intrigued by Wozniacki's insane retrieving, particularly in conjunction with the NYC marathon. Makes you wonder whether some players could do with taking up distance running occasionally? I read somewhere that Dimi did so after his early RG exit this year, and he reckoned it helped him go deep at Wimbledon.
Are you pro-Spanish players, or anti-Federer?

Have just caught up with the score after the rain break.
Who was that guy playing Granollers in the first set .....? And how did he get hold of Federer's player badge/security I/D ......

I for once thought Granolla Bar gonna coz an upset after the 1st set and put 10 dollars on him to win, went for small dinner outside and came back to see the scoreline as 6-1 5-1 in the next2 sets, wtf is happening?

Re: US Open Day 7
Tha last passing shot to go 3-0 up in the 4th set was insane.
Fed and his team actually should thank Granolla Bar to wake him in the mid tournament, had this Fed of 1st turned up against Dimitrov/Goffin it would have been early exit.

It's weird, Granollers seemed supercharged early on but now he looks exhausted and half power, yet it's been a short match of brief rallies.

He did go to 5 in his previous round. To be honest, he's done well to even get this far. You're right though BB, he looks knackered - the scoreline almost makes it look like a tank, but it's not.

So he did, and three tie breaks. Yet against Dr Ivo the rallies wouldn't have been arduous.

1 more game required for Granollers to hit double figure mark on no. of games won and thats given he won the first set.

One thing is clear the court is super fast, its was lighting quick even yesterday on Robredo - Nick's match and some of Robredo's forehand looked like a bullet, Fed's serve at times look menacing.

And while Gasquet-Monfils is starting, Thiem should go through (2 set and a break up) and so should Bautista Agut (ditto - even though Mannarino was going to serve for the set before the rain came)

Re: US Open Day 7
What a brilliant win that is for Thiem, into R4 he goes! And Berdych could be susceptible too, what an opportunity for the kid. Fantastic work
Bizarrely, Isner also lost three tiebreaks (for the first time in his career) against Kohli. The big servers aren't having much luck, apparently! Only Raonic flying the flag at this point.

The thing with Richie is he puts his energy all the way in for the first 2 sets then being near the winning line he fizzes out, just as you would if you try and sprint the first half of an 800 metres

I don't deny his talent, physique , athleticism , energy but given all these he has never played the game as a professional, he is making fun of Tennis which what irritates me at times.
Yes entertainment factor is good to have but that should not interfere in your ability to play the game to success, if I had all those attibutes and Ferrer's work ethics I would have been a multi time slam winner.

Re: US Open Day 7
I can't believe David Ferrer lost to Simon Giles, was it a good play from Simon or a bad day in the office for Ferrer? with Ferrer out, the bottom draw has opened up for underdogs very well, Cilic, Simon and Berdych could compete for a slot in the semi's.

I was corrected by somebody yesterday JM, Thiem is not an Aussie but an Austrian , he could then team up with Jurgen Melzer

Re: US Open Day 7
I don't see Berdych as any sort of 'underdog' invisible. I'd happily put money on him to make semis ; and quite possibly the Final too, especially on these fast courts.
Surprised that he seems to have been dismissed so readily in much of the pre-tournament discussion/predictions.

Yes Monfils does act like a clown every 10 minutes, I'm not warm to either of these french chaps.
Goffin started well against Grigor cmon!!

Re: US Open Day 7
The Berd was in diabolical form during the US series, lags. I pretty much wrote him off as well, but I think the five-setter he had in R2 has helped him play himself into some form, to some extent. As you say, he has a great chance to make a real run to the final from where he is, though (should they meet) Cilic did turf him out at Wimbledon pretty easily.
It's amazing how everyone always plays the returns and rallies back to Gasquet's backhand. It really is ingrained within these guys to target the BH whenever possible, regardless of opposition. That said, Monfils is a set up so he probably knows more than me about it

Goffin has already broken Dimitrov twice and leading 3-0, what a talent Goffin is, if only he can somehow build himself to generate a little bit more power he would be a serious threat for Top 10.

Think Tomas wins his next 1 in 4 sets, I don't think he is better than Cilic this year so that will be interesting .. (if they both do as expecting)
Honestly Goffin is so good last months 2 breaks already

Cilic has a hurdle in Simon Giles right? also if I am right Cilic has never beaten Simon, so lets not write Simon off, he has come up with a big win over Duracell Bunny.
