It was brilliant rick. One of the all-time great culture cup thread split posts. One that would have been treasured for years by all posters and quite possibly have led to a better life for all humankind.
Then Jeff f*cked it all up. What a tw@t.

Having the thread split post, or having the last post in the old thread so that your name stays on the locked thread, visible on the board for all to see?
Jeff got them both.

Your words mean nothing to me Rick, nothing. Whilst I am gracious enough to move on I have not forgotten quiz-gate. I am however genuinely sorry to have upset Julius, he deserves better. Union I am reasonably on the fence about.

I am not upset for myself Jeff, more for the good that it would brought the world in general. However as long as your ego got suitably stroked by getting both the last post and the thread split post, that's the main thing.

"Rubbish on here this week", Galted mused, "f*cking rubbish". He gazed wistfully out of the window, "ah Julius, me old mucker" he said (for Galted was familiar with a multitude of quaint dialects), "what's a splendid fellow like you doing in a sh1tty thread like this? And Hull? Hull! Christ! As if it's not bad enough that Tino's off beheading hacks again... Hacks. Hacks!", he laughed uproariously at his delightful if inadvertent pun. "Think I'll have a crap" he said to himself, "be far more interesting than referring to yourself in the third person, you arrogant tw*t".
"P.S." he said as he sat down, "if Union's not married his impending child will be a bastard. A bastard."

Had a volunteering day yesterday at some country estate day centre for disadvantaged children (no spastics or Africans unfortunately). Good day, had to burn a massive pile of wood. Proper boys stuff.

Kids stay at this place, so a couple of groups were decorating the rooms / dorms. One of my colleagues has borderline tourettes and asked the head volunteer if they have a Jimmy Saville suite. Funny but inapprop.

Do any of you younger culture cup fellows have any experience of living in halls in University? Nephew is going next week and am trying to work out what sort of stuff he will need. I have asked him but he has not yet fully mastered speaking more than three words at a time.
Sean don't abreiviate words like inappropriate, it is within touching distance of L*L, you're better than that.

What Uni is your "Nephew" going to?
Can't imagine it has changed much since my time other than the fact that they'll probably all be diagnosed with dyslexia and have free ipads.

In halls you will need music, emergency, long keeping food rations, a T.V licence if one is in the room.

Why have you put nephew in quotation marks Sean? Are you suggesting he is a figment of my imagination or is not really my nephew?

Happy days.
From the stories I heard from mates that did go, you could do a lot worse than give him a bag of prophylactics and a fire extinguisher.

You seem to do a lot of fatherlythings for him. Buy him a suit, send him off to Uni etc. You're either a half decent uncle or he's the product of youthful exuberance.

I'm a good uncle, he has an absent father and borderline alcoholic mother, if I don't do it nobody else does, which doesn't seem particularly fair on him.

Here you go, was going to be 10 questions but I lost interest.
1 Which Beatles was second across the road on the Abbey Road sleeve?
2 What was the first Spice Girls Single not to go to number 1?
3 Which comedian appeared on the Style Council album Our Favourite Shop?
4 Which four artists have had a number one with the song Unchained Melody?
5 Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Rich Grech are the members of which band?
6 Who sung the theme to the Bond film Octopussy?
7 How many UK number ones has Elvis had?
8 How many weeks was Bryan Adams Everything I Do number one for?

Re: The Culture Cup Round x - Adam is a naughty naughty boy
I would suggest a lot of tinned goods, such as baked beans, macaroni cheese and soups.
A poster of some 50s B movie for his wall (something like attack of the 50ft woman).
Some good bedding.
Toiletries
The aforementioned prophylactics although if he shares your charm, these may not be needed.
Some Tshirts of bands that split up/ were popular before he was even born (as an example, the Ramones, ZZ Top, SLAYER)
And a fools guide on how to click on the banner adverts on this site.
Hope that helps.
