Wales Vs Barbarians Empty Wales Vs Barbarians

Post by Welsh Exile Tue 31 May 2011, 5:22 pm

Any ideas or preferences for the 22 for either side?

For Wales, id go with:

1: Bevington
2. Hibbard
3. Yapp
4. Jones (Ryan)
5. W-Jones (Alun)
6. Lydiate
7. Warburton
8. Faletau

9. Phillips
10. Jones
11. Brew
12. Henson
13. Davies
14. North
15. Stoddart

16. Burns
17. Andrews
18. Charteris
19. Turnbull
20. Knoyle
21. Priestland
22. Williams (Scott)

And the Team i would be most worried about us facing:

1. Thomas
2. Ghiraldini
3. Hayman
4. Lund
5. Tekori
6. V-Niekerk
7. Smith
8. Parisse

9. Pienaar
10. James
11. Visser
12. Basteraud
13. Rabeni
14. Howlett
15. Baby

16. Bruno
17. Kubriashvili
18. Geldenhuys
19. Williams
20. Tillous-Borde
21. Michalak
22. Sackey

Having said that, i would like to see Williams Vs Warburton and Mason Vs Henson

Any thoughts on the prospective selections and key areas?

I am very surprised that Gatland as not took the chance to play Rees,Biggar,Priestland and put the likes of Phillips,S Jones on the bench.

Im pleased Gatland hasn't named a squad that is purely 'in development', as we need to take this game seriously. I would chuck in at least 1 first choice front rower.

I'd go with Faletau and Henson, because we have combinations there (back row and centres) who recently have not really worked well.

Otherwise, our performance over the last 2 years has been way short of anything we need to get a decent WC run, so we can't afford to adopt the England approach of using the BaaBaas as a kind of trial for fringe players.

From the team picked by Gatland the selections above are very close. It is not a team I would have picked but I am not surprised with Gatland's loyalty with Philllips,Bennett and S Jones
