With England now being "OUT" OF THE RUGBY WORLD CUP. They clearly have nothing too lose.

SO all the players in the 31 who have not played a game yet should be given their chance.

The likes of Danny Care starting at 9 and Wigglworth on the bench.

Easter and Kruse, Slade etc etc.

what do you think.

What have they got too lose?

Nothing.

We need to sort out our forward play, because our backs are going to evolve into a sensational unit.

I like that idea but wouldn't a backline of Youngs, Ford, Watson, Slade, JJ, May, Brown really struggle to straighten the line and hit the ball up?

Lots of passing and jinking, but against a well trained D they'd struggle imo

I may be wrong, but Slade hadn't played 12 before last night, it's a big ask to put him against Wales and Aus with no experience there.

I always think you need somebody to straighten the line in the backs, I'm not sure Ford/Slade/Joseph would work too well.

Enjoy the game Mike please accept my best wishes for your cup run. I hope you'll fo the NH proud and get a win against the odds.

I agree, I really can't cheer for SA since we was robbed in the 2007 RWC final, it was a try IMO.

Yeah , its similar with me. After the 2009 Lions tour I can never support a Northern Hemisphere team. The hypocrisy that came out of that team and management was unreal.

It depends how you use your forwards. If you use shortened line-outs and a pod system, you could have a couple of forward carriers to run the lines back into the traffic, either to take the big carries or to run as decoys.

Saying that, even outside backs can run the lines back in, they just have to aim at space rather than looking to take on 3 defenders in an upper-body wrestle.

You look across the top teams though and most have a carrying option in midfield. It's like a get out clause off slow ball I suppose.

SA - JDV, De Allande
NZ - Nonu, SBW
AUS - Kurindrani
Ire - Henshaw
France - Bast

I think you need that option in your back line.

Tuilagi 12, JJ 13 was tried twice in SA in 2012.

With Tigers looking as if they want Betham at 13 in the long run, then should he become fit, should Mauger be able to sprinkle a little stardust then it could be a serious option again for England.

Slade looks far better suited to being a 10 who can cover 12 than Farrell though, and could play 12 for england with reasonable success I feel.

Only just got the chance to see the game and it was another pretty poor display. The scoreline was always going to be big against an amateur side but it is deeply worrying that our breakdown is so poor and i lost count of the turnovers conceded. Haskell was awful and Robshaw was anonymous; if they can't impose themselves against amateurs no wonder Oz destroyed us.

Slade is another example of Bomber's conservatism where he'll only pick in form players ahead of his in the bank cronies until he has no other option. It is a shame he and the coaches won't do the honourable thing. The RFU for once need to be decisive and get rid now.

Can someone explain to me what you see in Farrell at 10 or 12 other than his kicking?

In attack he is very negative and his decision making seems way off. The only time England has looked good in attack with him at 10 was when Care was playing out of his skin playing both 9 and 10.

In defence, he is a good individual tackler but seems completely out of tune with the game plan and his team mates.

Ford is by far the better 10 and I believe that Slade will become a better 10 given the chance at International level and as for 12, England have a large number of players better than him there.

I think it's just the kicking and solidity he brings in defence.
Not enough to earn his place in my opinion but hey ho.

mikey_dragon wrote:Like I said, it was a poor game from Ford (by his standards at least), and the ref should have blown up when he was holding on there at the end.

Still not gone away to read the laws then? Do I need to post an image of the Uruguay player trying to play the ball while on his knees? Or are you just repeating this over and over to try a wind up?

Just for reference when he did get to his feet (after he'd already committed a penalty offence) he was cleared out within 1 second and there isn't even a view that shows whether he even had his hands on the ball - hardly a case for a penalty for holding on.

It's interesting that you seem to appear on all threads involving England trying to find points where you claim the other team were hard done by by the ref, but if anyone suggests Wales may have had the benefit of a call during one of their matches you are outraged.

I've noticed your digs at England are now also appearing on match threads not involving them.

Wales are through to the quarter finals - well done and good luck to them - can't you just enjoy that rather than keep up these constant attempts to wind people up?

Guys I made a valid point on the match. I got attacked. Wales got attacked. I got referred to as Mikey Phil. If you don't like people pointing out England aren't that good I suggest you refrain from slagging off other teams in the first instance. Another classic example of being able to give it out and not take it if ever there was one!

After this tournament I won't be supporting England for the foreseeable future that's for sure. Such a shame as I very much enjoyed living there a few years ago.

Mikey_Dragon - you've been responsible for many, many reports over the past 24 hours.

Whether you think you're innocent or not, threads are being disrupted and you're at the heart of it.

Probably best you move on from this thread - you're certainly not adding anything to it just now.
